Everything I already own, plus the Taken King ... Or:
Buy $59.95 for Destiny - original game
Plus $39.95 for expansions I and II
Plus $39.95 for The Taken King 'pre-order'
-------------------wait for it------------------
That's $140 pretty much for the same thing as noobs can get for $60.
Thanks Bungie. I've enjoyed your game. Seriously. It's a lot of fun. I'm not kidding. Check my hours played. More than most, I can assure you that.
And, what's my thanks and appreciation for supporting your game along the way?
Getting screwed over to the tune of more than DOUBLE THE PRICE that someone will pay today.
How the hell does this make sense?
You should actually honour your most loyal customers with The Taken King as a FREEBIE, or at the very least , a DEEP Discount. (Maybe $15 instead of $20, but certainly not increase it to $40, that's just plain back-asswards).
"Here you go guardian. As a token of our appreciation for sticking with us through the first year, for buying the base game, for getting the first two expansions (which may or may not have been disc-locked content), for playing through the glitches as a live feedback forum for our programming errors, for the buffs and the nerfs you've endured, for the lag and for the heavy ammo we took from you every time you spawned... We would like to present you, as a gift,
Your own Edition of The Taken King.
I'm not butt-hurt by what's been paid so far. I'm f-ing choked that a newb will get all that and more for $60.00, and that it will cost me another $40 on top of what's already been paid, just to keep up with the BUNDLE-BABIES of 2015. Should be $15 max (free preferred) for the players who already have all the prerequisites.
BUMP if you agree with even one part of this.
--- out ---
EDIT:
Geezus. For those of you who agreed, thanks for understanding my point. For the rest, here's an example:
You all have cell phones. If you don't, try to imagine having one.
Buy the latest phone. Then pay for an upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade. Then pay for another upgrade.
Your buddy goes and buys the upgraded upgraded upgraded phone, AND GETS THE ORIGINAL PHONE YOU PAID FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE GIVING TO HIM FOR FREE AS WELL... For less than half the price too!! and as a freaking bonus, he also gets the charger, the headphones, the protective case and limited edition sticker to proudly display on the back of his Kia Soul as well !!!!
Does that help even one of you naysayers get it?
Edit 2:
For those that say "Isn't this how all games do it?", the correct response is (I'll succumb to Godwin's Law for some of this I'm afraid):
Did slavery come to an end?
Did the holocaust come to an end?
Did the USSR come to and end?
Did the wall in Germany get torn down?
Pick a metaphor... The choice should be your own.
Just because that's how it's always been done, simply does not 'de facto' make it right!
Edit 3:
Your responses have been mixed. Fine. My post will not be all or end all. I appreciate what most of you had to say. For clarity I do not compare the edit 2 metaphors directly to this video game. But, to be offer a piece of advice to those who thought I meant something else:

I believe that a company this big and profitable can do better than the companies that came before it.
There will always be change. Who will do it first?
Edit 4:
You'll be impressed... I've listened and here is my last ( probably not) contribution to the argument:
Bungie can rename the DLC to be
$39.95 for the DIGITAL BEND OVER EDITION* for those of you who already have the original game and the first two expansions.
We will send your guardian an in-game bottle of lube. It will be waiting for you in the special orders.
* There will be no reach-arounds or discounts offered.
Edit 5:
Please stop buying next year's car at half of last year's pricing!!
Edit 6:
There were Alpha players
There were Beta players
Then came Day-1-ers
We can call the next gen the 'Vets'
Along comes Xmas Noobs
Since then we've had a few Kinder-guardians
But this latest generation will forever be known as:
THE BUNDLE- BABIES
I do not take credit for this nickname, the original poster is down there, buried somewhere in the responses to this thread. Go ahead and find him/her, they deserve all the praise.
If my post succeeds in nothing else... BUNDLE-BABIES SHALL LIVE ON FOREVER!!!!!

EDIT 8: Looks like my rant was 'all' right on the mark. The failure on the price point. The failure in exclusive content. The failure on needing to rebuy items I already own.
Many Thank to Eurogamer for taking the time to interview Luke Smith, and get to the bottom of all these inequities.
We shall see what the weekly update holds for the year-one owners of the game. I bet it's not much!
-
I just paid £43 for the original digital collector's edition today just so I could have the legendary ghost when I already had the normal game, I guess being absolutely dripping with cash has it's advantages :) Don't buy the expansion if you can't afford it, peasants!!!!!
-
well the game is a year old. right now the game is 29.99 season pass 34.99 full price, right now, is 64.98 who knows how much base destiny will cost when taken king comes out. things depriciate in value as time goes on until they hit that "antique" status. quit playing dumb about how the economy works.
-
Would you pay full price for a game that's 12 months old?
-
The newbies are buying an old product. You bought/ are buying a new one. Would you expect to buy a 2015 model at the same price as a 2014 model?
-
Wait until the next dlc come out after the taken king and than the TTK will be much less expensive. Problem solved
-
I don't agree with it being entirely free. BUT, for those who Beta tested or "Day One Players", we should be getting everything the Legendary Edition has to offer at the same price of the Standalone DLC. They need to learn to respect players more instead of worrying about every penny they can get from the community. Do they not understand that building a great relationship with their community is going to net them more money at the end of the day because more players are going to suggest people to buy the game ? I know Activision is probably playing the biggest role in the pricing of DLC's, but this shit has got to stop so it doesn't end up becoming a trend for the 10 years of Destiny's lifespan.
-
Do you know what depreciation means?
-
Bump. I agree
-
i totally agree
-
You got a year to play all this and you said you enjoyed it, what's the issue? For the examples I looked at, those are primarily utilities, not entertainment
-
So...I'm a beta day one bundle baby get?
-
So just -blam!-ing buy the expansion and shut up this is getting annoying or don't play the -blam!-ing game anymore that simple u don't have to buy the whole -blam!-ing game again dumbass
-
Bundle Babies. Genius.
-
I got destiny and the expansions for free ( aka my birthday was the day after the release of destiny, and my parents bought it for me) and I only spent 80 bucks on it which is the collectors edition of the taken king
-
Shafted
-
Chill bro the price of everything goes down so the 60 makes sense. What doesn't is that these noobs get all the bonus content that we can't get unless we buy everything AGAIN for the big bundle for 79.00
-
I completely agree with everything and have spreading the news exactly as you put it if this isnt a freebie im done with this game
-
Just did the math. 45 days of playtime? In 9 months? Holy crap. **** hangs head is absolute shame **** I quit.
-
Agreed with all accept for the "free TTK" part
-
-
Screws over next gen players People don't realize this is the perfect opportunity to upgrade
-
A lot of games have re-released an "all edition" of their games. Fallout 3 and New Vegas, Borderlands 1 and 2, Arkham City, Modern Warfare 2 ( I think the only call of duty to do so? Check me if you will), Oblivion, mortal kombat, street fighter, etc. It's because they want new players that haven't enjoyed the game yet to be able to for a reasonable price after its been so long since release. It's business, and it's successful. I paid for all the dlc for fallout 3, because I wanted to play it when it came out and didn't want to wait. So you either experience it when it content comes out, for a price, or you wait and pay for everything at a cheaper price because you waited. I'm not sorry you feel wronged by this practice, because I don't control your money, your life, or how you think, and I'm not going to try. However, business is business. Companies can't just do what the player community wants, because if they did, they would run their business into the ground. That's why we buy games, and they make them.
-
Anyone know how to cancel a preorder?
-
Well I would say it'll be that much. Besides let's be real here if Bungie was going to make something like this they would promt it for $11 not the same as a new game. This is activisions fault though if anything I'd say what's the harm
-
I'm not gonna buy it... Well maybe I will. I'd rather get Halo 5 because it will come out like only a month or two after
-
I agree with you 100% it's stupid that day one players have to play almost double and noobs get it half price. That's just ridiculous.
