I have a long history of sniping in COD, Battlefield, and Halo. So its just techniques I have picked up from previous games. I find sniping in Destiny to be incredible easy in comparison to Battlefield.
I remember my first game of destiny during the beta I went on a 15 kill streak with a sniper. Just felt very familiar to Halo so there wasnt much of a learning curve.

I second that. If you can snipe well in battlefield, you become a total monster in all other games.

I snipe incredibly well in Halo, but I'm only decent in Destiny. I don't see how people do it. They scope for half of a second, and get a headshot! It's ridiculous!

Find a scope you like. For me I stick with medium ranged scopes. Short range scopes are too jumpy and and long range limits you field of view. Also find a sniper you like and stick with it. I personally like high impact snipers. High impact allows you to oneshot a fully shielded player with a headshot. Great for punishing revives, blade dancers, and radiance. It also allows you to get one shot kills with bodyshots if your target has their shields partially downed. One of the "ah hah" moments I had with sniping back in the day was using strafing to aim. Get your crosshairs at head height and strafe left and right to aim.
