I consider myself a decent sniper, but when I go into Crucible, I'm wrecked beyond belief. There are guys who headshot me the very second they scope in. It's -blam!-ing ridiculous! I don't understand how they do it!
EDIT: A lot of people are saying that they get their skill from Halo. However, I actually snipe very well in Halo, but not-so-well in Destiny.

Haha same, on pantheon ToO i was getting headshot before coming round the corner in sniper alley

Edited by Yakson5: 6/14/2015 7:38:41 AMI get some lucky drag scopes sometimes, as well as some quickscopes
-
Saw some kids put a clear piece of tape with an X for the centre. Easy head shots
-
It's about knowing where an opponent will come out of cover and setting sights at head level. Jump out of cover and I bet they will have more issues sniping you.
-
People also use different control scheme. Such as mouse and keyboard having a huge advantage.
-
They are using final round.

Prydeth's revenge. Any sniper with final round. They either shoot so fast your ded, or one shot. But here are some general tips. 1)dance behind cover. This puts you in 3rd person and lets you see around corners 2) if a sniper is set up don't strafe out of cover. Hop. This make you harder to hit and aim assist will usually help you get a headshot. 3) (this one goes back along ways) but find were your crosshairs center on your screen when you ads and tape a little dot there. A lot of players do this to train themselves in the art of the quikscope. 4) if your in a sniper duel, mash the crouch button while you strafe. It make you really hard to headshot, and if your opponent misses his shots; you can counter snipe while he reloads. The new hidden hand perk is great on snipers

https://youtu.be/tqIysJB0R_c a good video of me sniping. I have more but haven't uploaded them yet.

Edited by Rokon: 6/14/2015 6:58:00 AMBungie does a fine job with aim assisting in Halo and in Destiny. It's also experience from Halo games. Bungie did a fantastic job in making Sniper Rifles work beautifully. Sure the aim assist is there, but you still need to be good to do good. As a competitive Team Fortress 2 player that off-classes Sniper, I know that when I snipe, I twitch shot. I think a lot of players do that as well. not necessarily quick-scoping, but never hesitating to take any shot they can. The worst that can happen is that you miss. And if you don't take a shot, that's a 100% chance of you not killing your target, as opposed to taking the shot and having a lesser chance at it. If you want to avoid getting Headshot often, do what competitive Halo players do: Aim down when you're jumping. This lowers your Guardian's head's hitbox so that it's harder for them to snipe.

Practice, get as many hours in as possible per day n know all the sniping lanes.also helpful to have a good look out with good calls. I love facing good snipers as it's the only way to get better

Maybe they have final round?

No Land Beyond Maxed with Snapshot = Slaughter

Honestly it's all on which gun you're using. I was always a scrub at sniping (I thought it was too much like Halo, and I HATED Halo), but the Queenbreakers Bow helped me with my aim. I then started messing around with Shadow of Veils, and duuuuude it's a beast. I've even been getting a few quickscope headshots. Lol it restored my faith in sniping
-
Cough cough aim assist
-
I love sniping in every game that makes it easy for me to get constant headshots.
-
Pure luck!!!! I get lucky half the time haha. Sometimes they just came into my scope, half a second later I headshot them!
-
Probably final round. Very few players I've encountered are actually that good at sniping to pull of an instant head shot the second you peek a corner.
-
multiple reasons really Practiced people, they play snipers all the time Could also be lag, you'd be surprised how much 1/8th of a second matter Aim assist or modding, people actually set their xbox or playstation up with a mouse. You can't win against a mouse. Interestingly enough, it's the last two type on the list that are convinced they are the best around
-
Practice, trust me. I used to be good with snipers in PVP until I switched to Shotguns (after the special ammo patch) Now I'm trying to get back to Sniping because it comes in handy for ToO.
-
Find something that your comfortable. Practice.
-
I thank CS Go for my sniping skill #PeeksFurDays

I think that good snipers already know what height to put their scope to get it near your head. It's simple just to drag it sideways or strafe until the center lines up with your noggin.
