I consider myself a decent sniper, but when I go into Crucible, I'm wrecked beyond belief. There are guys who headshot me the very second they scope in. It's -blam!-ing ridiculous! I don't understand how they do it!
EDIT: A lot of people are saying that they get their skill from Halo. However, I actually snipe very well in Halo, but not-so-well in Destiny.

Try a her benevolence with hidden hand and send it (both these perks increase aim assist) the. You early even have to aim near them haha
-
Point and shoot
-
Try find a sniper with high aim assist.
-
I have played AAA games such as halo, battlefield, and COD, im a very good sniper in each, knowing how to snipe in different environments and situations has trained me to be a good marksmen. Destiny has aspects that makes sniping easy No sniper scope sway Hit scan bullets Big head hitboxes Predictable character movement
-
Umm, final round? It doesn't need to be a headshot.
-
Quick reaction time
-
Lots of practice.
-
Destiny snipping is easy compared to halo, it's quite forgiving, the head shot hit area seems quite big too
-
Some snipers have massive auto aim and critical hit boxes that are larger than the actual persons head
-
Auto aim!! It needs to be removed in my opinion.

One way of doing it is to just know the map. Get to know what area has the most foot traffic and get to know at what elevation to keep your reticle so that people run right in front of it so you get a headshot. A second way to do it is have a Sniper with the perk "Final Round" Yeah, you can just toss two bullets aside and the third is a guaranteed kill with a body shot Another OP perk is the one with the All Seeing Eye inside a square that's description is "increases target acquisition" or something like that. This lets the Sniper Rifle gravitate to the head when aiming down sights But the biggest reason that so many people are good snipers is because of the Aim Assist. Now, Aim Assist is that thing where when you're looking at 1 enemy but another one runs across your screen and the game tracks that one even though you didn't move your controller. This basically upgrades someone's sniping skills in any other game by threefold Personally, I spent so much time Sniping in a game on PS3 called "DUST 514." In that game, you can't use the Right Analogue stick to aim. if you try to strafe while looking down sights the reticle goes crazy. same with forwards and backwards movements even while crouched. I've also played a ton of Planetside 2 on PS4 which is significantly easier to aim, but has bullet drop and constant scope sway. When you take the playstyle of Destiny in which you can freely move about in any and ZERO scope sway, Sniping in Destiny is way too easy.

Edited by Afawafa: 6/14/2015 8:44:53 AMTry to familiarise yourself with the map and with how tall guardians appear to be at varying distances. My sniping has been improving a lot after I started taking note of where enemies will tend to pop up from and where their head is gonna be. For most kills I don't really need to adjust my aim for the enemy's head, they'll just pop up where I'm aiming at. Also, if you're facing another sniper and you lost the first exchange, don't go back to the exact same spot unless you're significantly more skilled than he is or you know he's gone. The enemy will react much faster when he's already hardscoping where you're gonna pop up from.
-
They might have final round and may not be head shotting you, final round on some snipers will 1 shot you in the body
-
More than likely aimbot. I was playing trials (my friends can back this up) and we were duking it out with the enemy and came running in the room and turned, this hunter instantly took my head off while close enough to touch him. There is no way in hell you pop a perfect headshot from a running to fire position. My friends just watched as I exploded and they won. Snipers have to much of a zoom even at low to hit a dead even headshot that close. The trials has the most bullshit ever. I'm gonna start recording matches and show people how much hacking bullshit we face.
-
Do you often return to the same spot you got headshot in? I'm fairly good at sniping and so often you get opponents who think you got lucky against them and they return for 1, maybe 2 more deaths before they try something else. Maybe some of your deaths are coming from this? Do you opt into sniper fights that you're likely going to lose?
-
Well a majority of em use the last round perk... Haha soo good
-
It's not that they're good.. Its just a test of who has better Aim Assist
-
I bet they are killing you with that bullshit no skill sniper effrideets spear. It has higher impact+last round. It can 1 shot you in the arm. How long must these type of weapons last. Destiny is all about exploited weapons. If you have and effrideets spear with final round plus the thorn. You're practically a god in pvp. These type of weapons ruined it for me. I've completed more than most people on destiny since day 1. Time to move on to something else
-
Repetition. Practice. You got use to shooting a primary, you can get use to the sniper.
-
I snipe fairly well and I pull stunts like that every so often, honestly I think its just more luck than skill in most cases
-
Git gud.
-
Keyboard and mouse mods
-
The reason you're having difficulties is because the sensitivity is so -blam!-ing low. Even at 10. You can't move your reticle fast comfortably nor efficiently. It takes some time to get used to it :/
-
Hidden hand increases headshot hit box
-
Final round is one possibility. A lot of snipers also scout their sniper spots on each map and know approximately where the enemy's head will be, when he turns a corner/ pops out of cover. So they basically just have to pull the trigger
-
Haha same, on pantheon ToO i was getting headshot before coming round the corner in sniper alley
