I consider myself a decent sniper, but when I go into Crucible, I'm wrecked beyond belief. There are guys who headshot me the very second they scope in. It's -blam!-ing ridiculous! I don't understand how they do it!
EDIT: A lot of people are saying that they get their skill from Halo. However, I actually snipe very well in Halo, but not-so-well in Destiny.

They spend all their free time on the game

Maybe is the weapon you're using, ldr to me is the best weapon to snipe.

I always found it best to never hesitate in taking a shot. When I think to hard I suck really bad. I try to get my daddy and mind into a relaxed state that dosnt care. When I hit that state of mind al shots and quick reaction come naturally. That's just me and what I found that does best. hope it might help.

Use a sensitivity that's good for you (don't listen to others), use Kontrol freeks. They're inexpensive and you will love them and swear by them. And the last thing is practice. Use sniper during your pve and pvp as much as possible.

Take a small piece of the sticky part of a post it note, aim your sniper rifle and put it directly in the middle of your screen. It helps out a lot.

I'm the same I suck in destiny at sniping but rocked it in halo. Also my pal is opposite

Low sensitivity

Edited by RSerro22: 6/13/2015 7:00:46 PMSome people for certain perks on their snipers that make them better like the hidden hand or they go for something like hand laid stock. Check what the guy or girl (gender equality) is using he might be final rounding u.

Battlefield for me. learning ballistics, scope sway, and drop helped me become a better sniper in all games, even though most dont implement the same dynamics. In this game its all about the weapon. Prudence II is my personal favorite. Perhaps adjust your sensitivity. If you are really bad, use a sticky note, cut out a dot, spawn in patrol and dont move. The dot is true middle. Place sticker on tv and when a head is close to the sticker in pvp ads and shoot...i cant stand a sticker, its obnoxious to me and always in the way, but it really helps others.

One trick for quickscoping is when you sprint, you get a little chevron looking crossheir at the middle of the screen. Use it to your advantage and put it on or near your target right before you stop sprinting and zoom in, and boom your sight's already on the person. I wouldn't suggest going into patrol and practicing on inanimate objects or even enemies, because the enemies are very mobile in this game, and most of the time you will not get the kill and inanimate objects of course don't have any aim assist so you can't adjust. Just keep practicing in control and stuff, hold down a choke point and hardscope. Don't forget to duck into cover if you miss. Once you get used to getting kills without having to fire a second time, you will start to see yourself getting quicker kills. Experience with other games like Cod also helps. Also, higher sensitivity, not lower. I run 8. Another trick is to just flank snipers with a shotgun, most of the time they don't see it because they are just zoomed in to one location. Or try not playing the lagfest called Destiny crucible.

they have a lot of practice not playing the game the way it was intended to be played: using your primary as your primary, etc.

Sniping is an art, kinda like sex

Don't understand how people say it's from halo. I could no scope with the sniper and absolutely wrecked with it most situations. I haven't figured out the trick with Destiny yet. It is NOT the same. The game feels a lot alike, but the guns are different enough that it's a whole new ball game.

Just trace the dot over the other dot and press a button. Me thinking this way actually simplifies things a lot and makes it easier to snipe. Also positioning and being able to dodge an enemy sniper's bullets makes my counter snipe all the more effective. (Trick to dodging enemy bullets is right when you fire crouch simultaneously and chances are the enemy won't get the headshot).

Edited by Geordwah: 6/13/2015 6:32:13 PMYou are correct , there are people who know where I am before I get there..... It's not skill..... But I wish I could do it!! It's like the mystery of continuously getting one shotted by thorn, happens too often Or perhaps I'm double poo at pvp!

Testicular man slaughter?

Aim assist.
-
Keep practising, I've heard finding a head level target in patrol and shooting it from different places and at a quick speed helps
-
There's a couple factors that can add to someone's effectiveness with sniper rifles. Each rifle has its own invisible Aim Assist stat. For example, Her Benevolence has an AA of 55. New Monarchy's Violator 12 has an Aim Assist of 27. Icebreaker? 50. Patience and Time? 65. Then you have the actual scopes. One of the most popular seems to be Ambush (x4.5 zoom), but that actually reduces your Aim Assist by 5 or 10. I don't remember how much exactly, but the compensation seems to be the highest Stability of all scopes. Shortgaze (x4.5 zoom) increases AA by around 20 I think, and the short range Longview (x5 zoom) increases AA by at around 30. Then you have the perk Hidden Hand, of course, to add even more AA on top of those two factors.

Find a scope with some aim assist and similar to halos scopes
-
Bungie pls nerf skilled players.

Find a sniper with high stability, and hidden hand (better target acquisition) Final round snipers are good too, but currently unobtainable
