I consider myself a decent sniper, but when I go into Crucible, I'm wrecked beyond belief. There are guys who headshot me the very second they scope in. It's -blam!-ing ridiculous! I don't understand how they do it!
EDIT: A lot of people are saying that they get their skill from Halo. However, I actually snipe very well in Halo, but not-so-well in Destiny.

Don't try and line the shot up before you fire if someone pops out away from where you're ads. Sweep across and fire. Usually the quickest reaction time wins, not necessarily who has the shot perfectly lined up (although it does help).

Halo helped me alot
-
Modern Warfare 2 helped me learn lol

Edited by Jeff the Cabal: 7/8/2015 1:28:04 AMPlay on small screen, and the lowest comfortable sensitivity. There's also the hit and snipe tactic which is shoot with a primary of some sort and then switch to sniper and try to land that bullet on them before their health recovers.

It's because Snipers are noob-friendly and easy to use...

Edited by A Saturnalia: 7/3/2015 4:10:42 AMThey aren't. This game has a ton of aim assist and bullet assist, along with final round.

Edited by AlmondRaptor612: 7/3/2015 5:10:17 AMthis game has tracking, de-accel, dampening and bullet assist that all work automatically and seamlessly. take all assists off and you will see Chaos.

My thorn outsnipes most snipers

There's several ways that you could end up in a sniper duel that lasts less than a half second. The obvious one is the other guy is just good, lol, but let's discuss other more helpful ideas.... If it's a flat map with a lot of corners, good snipers know to line up their sights on the corner at head height in advance. The instant you step out BAM! So be mindful on maps like pantheon where the terrain is relatively even. Also you should be conscious of your own sniper glare; once you ADS you're very noticeable. Try to pre align your sights before you scope in. Try to center the screen on your target before aiming. This doesn't mean you have to quickscope, it just means to be more prepared before you initiate the fight.

Practice. I have come a long way. In the beta no joke, if someone was afk I couldn't hit them in less than 10 seconds. Now I get triple kills and firefly kills a lot... I always use a sniper no matter what the map. That helps a lot with practice.
-
I practiced on the blades of crota. You can snipe all 3 acolytes while they're kneeling and then 3 head shots to the knight while he's moving. It sound dumb but do enough times you kinda get better

Snapshot. And I love Icebreaker. But, here's one of my personal favorite clips with LGH

Honestly practice! I wasn't that good but got ice breaker and wanted to be better! Now I'm one of those guys i used to hate!

If you're already a good sniper in PVE, i'd say learning the maps is the most important thing. Where to rest your weapon. Where enemies will come from to gank you from close quarters. Knowing when you round a corner, exactly where you need to be aiming. When someone is already aiming to a spot that you are going to, you need to be on them in a blink b/c that is the reaction time you are dealing with. We all have it. Just need tons of practice.

I am shit with snipers. That is all.
-
Easy. Ready, aim, fire, repeat
-
Practice practice practice, also knowing your sniper rifle and having the best setup is important

I made a little video today to help people who are new to sniping in destiny

They use sniper rifles with high aim assist for distance killing on the move. For up close sniping, snapshot is a must for quick scoping. Easiest way to do that - zoom in with your scope and put a mark on your screen where the reticle is with a non-permanent marker. It's as easy as putting the mark on someone, scope in and pull the trigger before you're fully scoped, then let off the scope.

Edited by Snakeslicer: 6/17/2015 10:47:35 AMMost Halo players understand that sniping will take practice, and PvE sniping is nowhere close. If you ask forum veterans, most will say that it's all about practice and timing. *ahem* or Patience and Time. See what I did there? :D Also, a high sensitivity seems to help. (Only for twitch reflexes)

Lol, I'm still a little hammered right now and finished playing some crucible with my sniper. Gotten merciless with it and such. lol You want to look for these perks: Hidden hand Unflinching And any sort of scopes or perks that can max the stability Hidden hand increases the hit box for guardians. Benevolence is the number used pvp sniper right now with those listed perks above. (Amazing in trials) Get that weapon and you're good to go.

Same sniping mechanics as halo I believe
