I'd like to start a discusion about a thing that bothers me a bit since HoW came out, and it's finding people to play ToO and PoE with...
First of, I'm average... I've played Destiny on Xbox360 for about a month (b4 I played weekends on PS4 all of 2015) and I'm not a gr8 pvp player, but I'm not terrible either... I hit my first IB (first ever) last week and made rank 5 in 3 days of medium game time (do the bounties, win and done, no big accomplishment)... Did a descent ammount of VoG hard (never played normal) and got the rewards for it... I'm saying this not to brag, but to point out what kind of player I am (just like most people in Destiny)... Currently I'm lvl 33 (thanx to IB; one etheric in the boots and one in Gheleon's Demise)...
Now, despite not being a total noob I still can't find anyone who's willing to go to Trials with me... They see my character and they're gone... I managed to play 3 games and won all 3 and that's it... Couldn't even finish a card (at least with losses)... Nothin'...
"Must be 34, must have max Thorn or Red Death, must have gone flawless, must have mic"... I don't have any of these... Same story in 32 and 34 PoE (but with Gjallarhorn, and I have that)... How can I get any of that if no one wants to play with me? The mic is my matter, can't buy it in my country and it's expensive for our standards... Ok, but I can hear, I know the maps and I know how to move around... Ok I won't kill everyone every time, but that's why we stick closer together and rez each other...
All I see are people looking for someone to carry them or perfect pvp people to play with... So I ask you: how can I get any good if I don't have anyone to play with... I solo Nightfalls, come on?!? All I see are rushers in pve and elitist (or snobs) in pvp... How do you get to be good at anything if you don't play and practise... I practise pvp every day and that's made me be always 1st or 2nd in IB (mind you, I was lvl 32 almost all through)... But I can play that with matchmaking, Trials I can't... Not even PoE 32+...
And I don't mind getting killed, while I learn... I used to get killed all the time in skirmish, be last with 1 kill... But with time I got better... Now I average 0.8 to 1.2... I still die, but less and less, and I kill more... Practise, right?
I hope someone gets what I'm saying... Let's PLAY trials, let's get slaughtered... So what... But every time we play we get slaughtered a little less... And that's learning... You think TrippleWreck started with a 20.0 K/D? No, he sucked just like everyone else, but he worked on it and got to be the player he is today... And he still gets killed... Isn't this game fun for anyone anymore? Is it all grind and elitism? Not for me, I still try to enjoy and learn new skills... If you're a bit like me and play on 360, I hope you invite me sometimes to play together and become legend like we were promised ;) Peace!

Ler me just officialy state that I was wrong about the whole mic thing... (3 dots for suspense) It's not expensive, I found a bunch of $10 Xbox compatible headsets online. Should have thoght about that before. There's only a few choices in our stores, and all of 'em are pro gear and cost over $100. I just assumed that's all there is. There's a great lesson here: always check online stores. There are alternatives for everything.

What's the problem it's your clan . You're clan should be helping you.
-
Sorry, communication is extremely important in ToO. I don't care about weapons or level or anything but we gotta be able to communicate.
-
Did you just admit to not having a mic? You have no chance, it's about communication, no one wants to drag a mute through ToO or PoE.
-
Haha so many friend requests, I don't know what to say :) Seems as I'm not alone on this issue... Thanx everyone, I hope I get to play with all of you...
-
https://www.bungie.net/7_Elimination/en/News/News?aid=13006 Here is where people should learn how to play ToO.
-
It is so hard without a mic man. You can't find a used one in your country?
-
Hi Bro, if You're on X360 ad Me, GT is Necromantici. I have mic and all those weapons but will not ask people to only join if they have them because I believe weapons are situational and can be countered.
-
The best is when you actually DO meet the requirements and you're like okay I guess I'll play with these assholes. They send you 4 invites back to back because nobody else wants to play with them, so, in realizing that they are impatient, you accept the invite immediately and start to transfer gear through the app as to not waste their time in the tower. Then you get a "You have been removed from this activity by the leader" or whatever because you had a different gun on and they didn't even bother to let you change it before kicking you lol wut? No wonder you've been spamming your message on the forums for an hour.

Add me? o Nullify

I think you're just lacking decent friends, I think players without a mic actually do really well. Plus they don't talk so it's peaceful imo.
-
My advice for anyone struggling to find a group to play on LFG or these forums, is to create your group! Think about how many other people just like you dont match the requirements which soo many "elitist" post are asking for? Make your own group, drop the requirements and have fun with like minded people. However if you are looking to win at all costs (aka be carried) then either start playing regularly with the same people or get gud and meet the requirements of the "elitists"

Edited by Kovathos: 6/9/2015 3:46:07 PMAnd this is why bungie needs matchmaking to be optional Too many elitists. I mean COME ON! People want more than 30 for vog and ghorns? What for? you don't even need that to beat it! And do you REALLY need to kill atheon on one shot? It's not like fighting him is even hard. Just know how the AI reacts, that's it. You could get a group but you have to spend 10x more time to do it because you don't have the "perfect" gear which isn't even needed. When it comes down to it for pve content all you need to know is exactly how the AI reacts which is easy enough to figure out. Example, Knights with boomers will always sidestep and/or use its shield once they take a few points of damage. Hobgoblins will go invulnerable if you shoot them gaining time to find cover or shoot other targets, minotaurs teleport the exact same way every time and easy to time shots. Captains will always run once their shield is down and if you get too close they will charge at you almost relentlessly to do a melee attack. As for ToO I understand the desire for perfection, that's s fault on bungies for needing so many victories and statistically the average person will lose 50% of the time. Meaning accessing ToO for an average player is to fight and fight and hope that statistically he wins enough times in a row before they lose.

Edited by felonious206: 6/9/2015 3:42:08 PMIn trails a mic is a must and you should not run trials at 33. You are at a disadvantage wich puts your team at a disadvantage. If your in it for the learning curve and your team dont mind you dying the fastest than cool but its gonna be a rough time. P.s. use a cell phone mic. I heard they work pretty well.

If you were on Xbox One I Would have Been able to help.
-
Get an xbox one. Get a microphone free. Get a clue. Get a grip. Get a gally. Get gid
-
Hey man I would be willing to help ya. 34 is debatable right now as a new one just came out. I would have to play with friends first to get the feel for the lvl 34 PoE. I would be willing to carry you in blind with a buddy of mine through PoE 32. We were all newbs at some point. Hell...I had like a .75 KD in crucible at the beginning of the game, and now if I try I can get a relentless almost every single day. I don't mind helping new people. Just make sure you are willing to be patient in PoE, and listen to what I say. It will help, I sound like an elitist but thr difference between me and them...I am patient with newbs and want to help the community to grow :D If you are still on the 360 hit me up. GT is as follows: DHG CrazyBanzai

i promise you tripplewreck and players like me basically had this game perfected the moment we hit level 20 and found The Last Word. So what? People want to play with good players with all the right guns to make wins happen. Why would we just "be ok" with losing? We are competitive, so what? We want a team that doesnt know just how to revive, but WHEN to revive. I'm sorry you cant seem to figure out how to become an elite but games are ruled and directed by the elites and it may seem snobby or w/e at times but we are just trying to have fun like you are, and losing or carrying you isnt what we call fun.
-
No mic & scrub weapons / rank hmm...
-
If you play 360 on weekends I would have you in every trials game ever and prison of elders. Me and my cousin play all the time but never have a third person by our side. I have to go onto the forums. We don't bother with mics because ours are crap anyway. We don't need another gjallahorn, thorn, red death, tlw. If you ever need any help on the weekend if I'm on I will be there. By the way my cousin doesn't have a red death or thorn and we still win/won our only trials match when we were x2 level 33s and a level 32 against level 34s. We don't care. We are here to have fun. Ever need help or need a team for stuff. Message me on the xbox. I will help out if I am on. Please no hate by the way.
-
I'm really sorry man, not trying to sound elitist or snobby, but a mic is an absolute must for Trials of Osiris.
-
Did you say you don't have a mic? You're going to have a really hard time finding a group for Trials without that. Communication is critical in there. I don't think that particular thing is elitist, just realistic.
-
Have to become 33 yet (my ten year old son is already 34.....) but I don't mind getting slaughtered. Still have a lot to learn in PvP, I think even more than you, but I will become legend before the ten year franchise ends :) You mind if I send an invite?
-
It's ok I don't have a mic either, I'm not bad at the game. I just got to 34 yesterday with iron banner. If you want another player to do things with just invite me, I'd be glad to help. I don't care about my k/d or anything, just in it for the gear.
-
People who claim to not have/can't afford a mic are just socially awkward and/or anti-social.
-
Get a mic. Didn't your system come with one? Form your own teams. Be the leader and find similarly skilled people to play with. Be honest about what you are looking for on lfg sites.
