And he did it on Jay Z's Tidal exclusively as well. Like you can't even find this on YouTube. I feel like Tidal is either going to be a big shift in the music industry or fall short of anything great whatsoever.
Anyways, it's no secret that Lil Wayne's been in a slump. Most people dislike Lil Wayne because he raps about very mainstream shit, which I completely understand and agree with, but in terms of rapping ability, I've always liked Lil Wayne's flows, wordplay, metaphors, and overall rhyme schemes. Although he doesn't really say much of importance, he still spits well. Well, at least he did.
Lil Wayne has been in a slump since Tha Carter III. Which, if you never listened to, was actually a pretty good album. Tha Carter IV barely made the ticket of "decent" and lately he's just been doing pop acts and pretty much being an annoying, over-autotuned plug in the radio.
Maybe Cash Money records was holding him down the past couple years? Who knows, but it's clear to me on this track that he is spitting the bars that made him famous. Clever, funny, intricate, and original rhymes that were a staple in the game in the early 2000's. He also seems to implore some self-conscious throughout the song, seems kind of obvious that he's saying this is first quality song in a while and he's back to reclaim his glory has one of the big heads in the hip-hop game. So maybe a Lil Wayne comeback?
