So I got this crazy idea, and I know I'm not the only one thinking this. In fact there are other posts up that elude to the same thing I'm about to say but I'm gonna post up anyway. What valid reason is there for the vendors to not sell old gear and why did inventories as a whole shrink? You guys said that ethric light was supposed to be a game changer and to some extent it is, however the lack of choice still remains on the weapons, armor, and shader options. I know cosmetic things aren't the most important thing in the world but if you want people to be able to look different and have more options in their outward appearance, why would you limit the available armor and weapons that much more? Factions used to sell 2 sets of armor and speaking as a hunter the faction and crucible gear is just the dark below vanguard gear reskined. I'm not asking for all new sets of armor at all times but I feel like the option to get old armor should be available or have a significantly higher chance of dropping. What state its in, I could care less but as long as EL is a thing upgrading it would make that irrelevant. So let's make use of the refresh time and expand on those inventories by a line or 2. Don't bother saying it can't be supported seeing as the lines shrank from original size for no particular reason I'd like to see
1 - a 2nd row of armor that appears on all vendors and refreshes with various armor pieces from DB and vanilla on all vendors that sell armor.
2 - armor that is rerolled at refresh offering different stats and perks or the option to reroll armor at the vendor, same as the gunsmith.
3 - a second row of weapons that is treated the same as the old gear. If the gunsmith can refresh and get different things, so can the crucible and vanguard vendors. Possibly even older faction weapons as well.
4 - make the shader woman useful, if you find a shader have it added to her inventory so if you delete one you can buy it back. (I have blacksmith and I can buy it for 1 glimmer from the speacil orders woman as many times as I want. No reason the other woman can't also.) Faction and crucible included. And give her more shaders or possibly even add the ghost skins to her inventory.
5 - add ships and sparrows found to the shipwright. If she made the ship based on the found plans, why can't she hold on to a scrap of "paper"?
6 - increase the drop rate of faction shaders and ships. Goes without explaining. That shits harder to come by than finding an exotic. Hell xur could sell shaders from time to time, slap something together.
Increasing the inventory options is a good move in the long run because I feel like that saves on vault space and opens up the real chance for not looking like 4 or 5 other people in the tower with you at the exact same time. You can't say that readding the old inventories in small amounts for temporary times at refresh would destroy the game seeing as to how it was there once before and some people still have it and nothing has glitched or caught fire. Plus with increasing shader woman's inventory that adds extra variety and more items to her embarrassing low almost never changing inventory.
I love the changes that have been made already and you guys are doing a good job expanding but you seem to have struck a choke point by shrinking choices on an expansion. I know old stuff can be received via engram's and the occasional vanguard package but for the amount of items semi to readily available to buy in game compared to what's been in it so far is almost 3 to 1. Let's get a little bump in those numbers. Ive been playing since beta, im not "hardcore" but i do enjoy the game, I shouldn't have to dedicate my life to something that doesnt drop items that are really worth much to anyone whos been playing so long. After all ESO is coming. Its gonna be big. And lots of gear. I'm still going to come around and play destiny, plenty of people will, but those hours spent grinding will probably be spent somewhere I think I'll get a bit more incentive to play.
