Here's one for you, Admials. Assuming the Gravemind somehow knew of the Ark's location, how could it have gotten there? (There is an answer that makes sense)

An idea about how the Gravemind learned of the Ark's location that sort of makes sense is that it sifted through Regret's memories and learned of the Luminary featured in one of the Halo 2 Anniversary's prologue Terminals - the one which told Regret about Installation 05, and the portal to the Ark located on Earth. It requires a bit of hoop-jumping, but it sure as hell makes more sense than just having no explanation at all that Halo 3 gives us. As for how Gravy got to the Ark, it was confirmed in Canon Fodder that it used Precursor neural physics travel to jump High Charity to the Ark while in Mars' airspace.

Wouldn't it need precursor technology in order to do that? Regardless, that's not what I had in my mind. I'll give a hint, though, it has to do with First Strike.

Not to utilise neural physics travel, since it draws on an esoteric form of science tied to the nature of the universe itself and Living Time. Are you referring to the slipspace crystal from under CASTLE Base?
-
Bingo! One could speculate it's the same material the Librarian used to visit the forerunner colony in another galaxy.
-
In what context is this occurring?

He has control of High Charity and everything on-board. There is something that could allow him to make the trip there, so long as it knew the location.
-
Well, in Halo 3, he utilized High Charity's tech to harness neural physics and reach the Ark in an expedient manner.
-
Has that actually been confirmed in-universe? I always theorized he could have used the forerunner shard that manipulated slipspace for much faster travel.

Yes it has.
