People have worked for the items in the fiat installment of Destiny. It makes them unique. This also goes for all the Armour. In the future this will all change again and new weapons and armour will appear making the older ones in the DLCs at the moment very rare. This keeps the game fresh and exciting and makes people want to keep their long running characters with the items they have obtained.
