Auto Rifles in PvP

Hey guys. I'm hoping someone at bungie actually reads this. This is in reference to the many nerfs that have been placed on the auto rifles in this game. They have been nerfed so much they are utterly useless in pvp. No, not utterly, they ARE useless. I have played pvp shooter games for 10+ years. Automatic weapons have always been my personal weapon of choice. I love the different choices in weapons, and that they each hold their own special value in the game whether it be pvp or pve, and I like using my different weapons. However, in an attempt to get users to stop using auto rifles so much in pvp you have nerfed them way too much and they are seriously not usable in pvp any longer. I can understand your need to have them nerfed, but it was done too much. My personal favorite weapon and of course I'm sure for many others was the Suros. It was my baby. It had beautiful range and I could easily get my headshots off of it. The unupgraded Suros could be even better in more close combat maps. First nerf, ok, it's still usable. Second nerf, ok it's definitely taking me more shots but I can still roll with it. I ended up taking a break from this game for a good month, month and a half until the House of Wolves hit, and when I get back on, it's obvious that it has been nerfed again to the point I can't use it at all anymore. It has been collecting dust in my vault because it just can't get kills anymore, not when it has the last word and thorn to compete with that absolutely dominate the pvp scene now. It is completely useless when I'm up against someone with those two guns. I stand zero chance. They get better range than the Suros does. In my opinion, hand cannons should be closer (but not as low) as shotgun level as far as range goes. I've tried so many different auto rifles since then and still, useless. And before you jump to conclusions, yes I have tried rolling with pulse rifles, scout rifles, the infamous and way too OP last word and thorn. They just aren't my thing. They aren't my cup of tea when it comes to PvP playing. They don't have a natural feel for me. Never has been in my 10+ years of pvp playing. Scrolling through the forums and hearing from my friends, it is apparent that I am not the only one that feels this way. Soooo then I switched to the Vex. I've never really cared for it, but since I couldn't use any auto rifles, this was some form of an automatic weapon that was usable. It was working out well for me. Finally I had a weapon I could feel confident enough to take into Trials that could compete with and offset the ridiculous power of the thorn and last word, which I'm sure you noticed have completely dominated the trials as far as primaries go. Second week rolls around, updates to the games and dlc, my vex isn't feeling right or performing like it did the previous week. I was thinking maybe I was just having a bad couple days of playing. There wasn't anything mentioned in the weekly update or hot fix about nerfing the vex. Now I've played over a whole week since the last update and now I know it isn't just me and a couple bad days of playing. Something was done to it. It is not performing like it did. Maybe it could just be the lag that there has been since the DLC, but even in games where everyone has green bars it is not performing like it did. I don't understand what it is that you all have against automatic weapons. There needs to be options that can compete against the last word and thorn. If you aren't going to nerf those weapons, then you need to start buffing others, starting with the auto rifles. Also, I think the poison stuff, whatever it's called, on the thorn should be disabled for pvp, or come up with other weapons that can do the same thing. It's ridiculous that someone can get only 2 hits in me, I take cover, but I'm still dead because of the poison. I totally didn't mean for this to end up this long. Normally I'm not the type of person to even leave feedback like this. I love this game. I've had it since day one and I've put a lot of hours into it. I'm becoming frustrated with "MY" CHOICES and OPTIONS in pvp. I'm unable to use the weapons that come most naturally to me in that environment. I can understand you all wanting things to be balanced for all players, but I feel that you all have gone too far with the nerfs and the auto rifles are now under balanced. MY CHOICE and MY OPTION, the thing that makes the game enjoyable for me, has been taken away. That is unless I want to do terrible every game and play just to constantly die and get a few kills here and there. I hope you all read this and I hope something can be done about it. I would like to enjoy my experience in PVP again with what comes most naturally to me, and stop being frustrated with what doesn't. I would really like to be able to start using auto rifles again in pvp. I want to hold my baby Suros once again, hear her sounds, feel the vibrations in my controller. We had an instant connection when I first got my hands on her. I want her back :(.

  • Well said. I have two solutions for this which involve Auto Rifles in general and Hand Cannons. One, is to make Hand Cannons secondary weapons like sidearms (Which is what they should be anyway) This would limit their use to specific situations in pvp since ammo is minimal but it would not affect pve too much since ammo drops are more common. It would offer variety in pvp since you have to choose between a close quarters weapon (Which is what a pistol should be, closer to a fusion rifle in range than a shotgun though) They would have to decide between Fusion, Shotgun, Sniper or Hand Cannon. This would make all primaries Automatics with Pulse, Scout and Ar's leading the main weapon slot, forcing variety into pvp, they can even add in a sub machine gun class to round out the primaries better. This, plus an AR buff that makes it equal to the other rifles in damage. Or Simply reduce Hand Cannons range tremendously and still buff AR's damage to make them equal. Hand Cannons should not be easy to handle, even in a vets hand, you have to respect the kick back that it should have. Shooting it like a repeater with little recoil is ridiculous and sniping with one is even more so but if they are going to keep this, then the range has to go, Hand Cannons needs a down side. AR's down side is mainly reload speed which takes forever and rightfully so, some also have really low impact but that's ok as well. BALANCE BUNGIE!
