California trying to raise smoking age to 21+
The senate is trying to raise the legal age of purchasing and smoking tobacco to 21+.
Any thoughts?

That's -blam!-ing awesome, props to them. Smoking is one of the most addictive and nastiest habits someone can pick up. I kicked all my addictions I use to have, and I'm being 100% serious when I say smoking cigarettes was way harder to quit than alcohol and every single drug I had problems with in the past.

2 RepliesI'm almost 21 so even if it came to Minnesota it wouldn't bother me. It would decrease the 18 year olds from buying for minors though. Because what 21 year old is going to buy cigarettes for a 16 year old.

Ladies and gentlemen this isn't about smoking. It's about personal freedoms and choices. I, myself am a "nasty smoker". Trying to quit btw. This is a slippery slope that our government is on and will likely not end with smoking. Soon you will be told what to eat and in the not so far off future be told what mode of transportation you can and cannot use. I know that smoking is a horrible platform to get behind, but act now while you still can or irreparable precedents will be set that will open doors to removal of other rights to other peoples in other states. *steps off soapbox* sorry about the rant lets play destiny!!!

I started smoking at 12 (when smoking age was 16 in England). Laws don't change shiit, but, to some people they do (complete law-abiding citizens) so maybe it's a good thing...

Laws are only for honest people. Underage kids who want to smoke will. So really the senate is just trying to make themselves feel better.
