I'm curious about the remark about censorship. We don't remove posts for criticism of Bungie or Destiny. The Trending and Higest Rated are designed to elevate content that people are talking about it but also are biased toward new topics. I'd bet that the posts in questions weren't actually removed but rather simple "aged-out" (the threshold is VERY high to remain on those listings).
That said, if you think something else is happening, I can check specific posts, but if you can still see them if you have a direct link to them, that age-out is what is going on. The posts aren't deleted, and we still have our player support and user research teams consuming all the posts made and digesting them for the live team's consideration for future planning. This is as much your game as it is ours - we take such feedback seriously (the content of the latest DLC and patches reflect that pretty well, I think).
One final thing - please use the report or mute function on those users who give you grief about your feedback. Reasonable and level-headed opinions deserve their day, you don't have to deal with users who cannot handle a different opinion or feel the need to attack users because they're having some trouble with enjoying Destiny. I've already warned some jerks in this thread for this kind of thing, but moderators generally need reports to find this stuff, because they cannot be everywhere.

It's very coincidental that the algorithms censor specific posts...from some people.

You've given the best answers from any bungie employee I've ever seen on the forums. Keep up the great work

What is https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/134447535 and what may never be https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/134447681

Posts that I have made get removed from trending almost instantly if they involve matchmaking or TTK pricing
-
Lol straight into the thing about were the mails gone ....guess you didn't read any further . Matchmaking .
-
Come on! With all these taken king posts floating around and they get removed at like 700+ comments, I can't believe it! Algorithms right! No way, bungie refuses to talk about TTK
-
So every single post I have made since this post has dropped off Trending and Highest Rated. All while heavily liked and supported.
-
Well, considering that the website's code hasn't been updated since you posted this thread, that's not really that surprising. The next update will tweak these settings a little bit, hopefully making this better. I can't fully fix it until a different, more complicated issue is resolved with our forum database ,though (working on it). Dealing with 70 million forum posts makes things somewhat tricky.

Just for the record, you have replied more times in this thread than deej or Cozmo has replied to anyone in the last three months. So thanks for replying. However if it is deej's job to feedback from the community, than why isn't he replying to this thread. Not to sound like a jerk or anything, but the server errors were not the biggest problem that was being said on this post, and u said that your job was to fix server issues with the forums. So it begs the question to ask, where the hell is deej and Cozmo?

This is a really bad month for you guys lol. And now IB is broken. Although I just got my code for the new patch from a can of Red Bull...

Yep I see it happen

Edited by harrymfa: 6/29/2015 11:41:19 PMI think you poisoned the well by removing matchmaking, not only on this forum, but on Reddit, every video game blog that touches the subject, is met by a pack of cyberbullies. I think the only feedback you take seriously is the one you want to hear about, and most of it is fluff. Matchmaking is either swept under the carpet, or placed in the Feedback List with the same level of priority than "Guardian Facial Hair" (I'm not making this up). The objections against your matchmaking policy had been voiced out since even before the game was released. I can point you to many of those grievances. Instead of doing something about it, you repeat the same selling points and aggravate the situation. You have decided to ignore it. I consider your stance hostile towards a large group of players. Many of these, are the bulk of people populating your game. EDIT: I stopped playing because the issue with matchmaking. You burned that bridge with me, it's over. I urge all the people who want optional matchmaking to stop populating this game. Bungie doesn't want you, and doesn't appreciate your business.

Great post

One of the best answers from Bungie in these forums.

One thread in question was clearly marked "not available" and "awaiting ninja justice" when you tried to pull it up. The OP had it removed several times, and I saw no reason it would be "awaiting ninja justice" and removed.
-
Can you please explain why there are multiple "trending" topics with 0 replies? Thanks
-
Put simply, the answer is because trending favors more recent posts. Basically, each topic is assigned a score, based on when it was posted, replies, and likes (it is more complicated than that, but that's a pretty good approximation of what it does). As a post gets older, it requires more replies and likes to have the same score, to the point that it quickly becomes impossible to keep up with new posts. Combined with the age out mechanism that will quickly "disqualify" a thread for trending after a certain cutoff, it can have the effect of magnifying this date-focus. I'm working to improve this so that this effect isn't so pronounced, but it is slow going (doing anything that affects the performance of the forums is slow, there are millions of posts, and it is incredibly easy to make a change that appears good but breaks everything else).

I understand an age out mechanic for trending, but why is the threshold still so high for highest rated? Indeed, if the thread is still getting replies at a high rate, why essentially remove it?
-
That right there is what people are searching for from Bungie, an explanation on things. Thank you for responding!
-
I have been skimming through these replies and I'm AMAZED how polite and how well you reply. I guess I'm so used to reading fights in the comment section for anything, that I've forgotten that people can actually handle other opinions in a civilized way.Oh The Internet.
-
Oh. My. Gawwddddd communication yessss!!!!!! Thanks for the explanation even though there may be flaws at least it helps explain why it may happen.
-
That sounds like a terrible system.
-
Ok. So replies aren't necessarily needed. Thanks for the explanation.
