Thorn is much better than every single weapon in pvp and if you believe in a balanced pvp you should want a nerf. If u don't tell me why. Please have well though out answers and no shit like 'git gud'. Be sensible
Edit: please try be constructive. I want this to be a discussion not people crying and moaning everywhere

Have a look at this
-
If they nerf the thorn everyone will complain about red death or the next gun/armor
-
The range on the thorn is pretty wild but bungie tends to overkill with nerfs. Best to just leave it be because there are guns that can outdo the thorn.
-
The range on that thing is stupid. I shouldn't be outgunned by thorn from 300 meters away when I'm using a scout rifle. It should have a max effective range of about 25 meters (like a real pistol).
-
I don't care about the thorn, my red death outguns them 9/10 times and stops the poison effect immediately upon kill
-
Because last word is better

Edited by TeslaDoc: 6/5/2015 3:48:08 PMOP, where did you get those numbers? EDIT: Bad Juju is a Disney Villain archetype? That made me laugh so hard. Jafar or Malifacent?
-
I actrully don't care if its nerffed or not but I kinda want a all legendary play list and only use legendary cause that to me sounds like fun.
-
Edited by TeslaDoc: 6/5/2015 3:40:40 PMI think it should be nerfed AND I'm worried it will be nerfed into oblivion. Adjusting Thorn should be done with a degree of care so it can still function well in PvP.

Thorn has great dmg, it's also the same dmg for other handcanons but thorn has the dot, I think lower dmg and range it will be the best solution
-
It's comparable to other hand cannons in game and has its pro's and cons like other weapons choices imo. The most dangerous aspect to thorn for me is the DoT that ticks health away and there are things like the warlock flame shield, titan bubble and red death/suros perks that can counter the Thorn DoT. Hawkmoon has a chance to one shot kill people, and other hand cannons are usually 2-3 headshot kills. I don't understand these threads that call for a nerf to certain widely used weapons. It would be more constructive to start a thread on how to counter said weapon more effectively. Also, OP asks for a reasonable discussion however the poll choices are very biased against people who would disagree with a nerf.
-
I don't want the community to have too much power
-
Because I would not go to war with a .22cal. Just to prove I have skill.
-
i out gun people with thorn by using oversoul edict
-
Because my Gheleons Demise does just fine killing thorn users. And trust me, if I can counter it, anyone can
-
It will show us in the static of how many players are actually good now due to thorn and how bad they were before My friend is a 31 we ran IB together he was always able to come second just due to thorn, that should not be possible. And as people say counter thorn with red death but then people call that gun o.p, so I use the 555-all fate but by time I kill you the mark of devour is about to kill me Here's my fix: Every time you fire thorn you also are effected by mark of the devour seeing that it is a hive weapon. Or When you kill someone using thorn you get full health
-
I think that the damage is in line with other exotic hand cannons and even some pulse rifles but I think that the fire rate should be reduced because a thorn user shouldn't be guaranteed a 2 shot head shot while hawkmoon is only a chance and also be able to shoot 4 shots before I've even drawn my weapon.
-
I feel it's fairly balanced. You need to land 2 head shots to get a kill from the poison. If you nerf thorn, you nerf its counterpart, red death. Exotics are meant to give advantages to the players that own then, and each one is different. At what point does Bungie stop nerfing then? If you want to play a game where all guns have no perks, go back to CoD and quit complaining.
-
NERF... NERF... NERF... Whatever. Vex, TLW, all Shotguns, etc are all just as "OP" as many "think" Thorn is. Play the game, or don't, just quit crying NERF. Because you know, once you all get Thorn nerfed you will just start crying about the next "OP" weapon...
-
I kill thorn users quite often, I don't see what all the pissing and moaning is about.
-
Truthfully I use thorn. I also use my fate bringer and my fang of it yut. With the thorn being as powerful as it is, it's usually my first choice. However, I really don't mind other people using thorn, even before I used it it never bothered me. It still requires people to aim unlike people using shotguns just aim in a direction and pull trigger.
-
I just am concerned about the Thorn being nerfed because then everyone would just use the Red Death and Bad Juju. so then we'd all call for that nerf, then the next , then the next. So I am just concerned about the never ending cycle of nerfs I use TLW by the way, so not just defending my Thorn
-
I think it's important to note that average pvp players, need to understand the game a bit better in order to deal with weapons like these. I'm not a great player and I get caught out by Thorn and Hawkmoon etc and I'm a Thorn lover! But I learn. I learn to realise what I've been hit by, where to run on certain maps to avoid it etc. You can deal with Thorn users. You can deal with all types of users, you just need to be fairly decent and a bit cleverer than your opponent. A Hawkmoon can take you down with 2 body shots. That's just how it is. A thorn is 3 to confirm the kill or 2 possibly with the poison added on. But then you have final round on snipers. It's on other weapons too. I just reformed a Her Mercy hand cannon with final round, luck in the chamber and braced frame. The magazine size is now 8. Same impact as thorn and the stability is WAY up. So now I have a 6 bullets that do the same damage as thorn but 2 bullets out of 8 do extra damage. It's worked beautifully for me, but will people now see Her Mercy as being OP? All I am saying is that weapons have been made a certain way for a reason and it's down to players to know how to combat it. Same with classes. How do you combat a bubble? Or a bladedancer etc? We know now. It takes up an exotic slot, but if you know how to use it, it's effective and if you know how to play against it, it's fine.

Edited by BastionCrazy342: 6/5/2015 1:49:53 PMThorn should not be nerfed. There are other OP guns in PVP, so if you nerf Thorn, the next gun will simply take its place in line. Felwinter's range. Hip firing a Last Word for easy kills at medium to medium-long range, final round snipers.... TLW has a much faster time to kill than Thorn. Without meaning to insult anyone's intelligence here: One of the most often recited and valuable pieces of advice in PvP is to retreat. Sometimes it means just backing up a few meters sometimes it means a full-scale, GTF out of Kandahar kind of retreat. People who understand this and are able to apply this to their game have much less problems with thorn. People who play crucible like a COD deathmatch will inevitably end up here on these forums, wrecklessly throwing around the words 'nerf' and 'Op'. People need to stop waving the white nerf flag and start learning the ins and outs of maps and available loadout choices.
-
Because the majority of the proposed nerfs would make it unworthy of an exotic slot. Because literally any hand cannon can 2 shot you with either Luck in the Chamber or Final Round, TLW and Hawkmoon included. Because it is not an unbeatable weapon and has several counters (have you tried killing the Thorn user first?). Because if we're in an active firefight, where you're shooting at me and I'm shooting at you, if one of us lands two headshots, that kill was earned. If a Thorn user gets the drop on you, 9/10 you would be dead regardless of the weapon they're using.
-
Too many players use it.
-
The dot shouldn't affect players only pve enemies.
