Thorn is much better than every single weapon in pvp and if you believe in a balanced pvp you should want a nerf. If u don't tell me why. Please have well though out answers and no shit like 'git gud'. Be sensible
Edit: please try be constructive. I want this to be a discussion not people crying and moaning everywhere

Have a look at this

Whoever designed hawkmoon should remedy thorn. Unless that's the same person.

Edited by Kibblebandit: 6/5/2015 10:51:43 PMThe irreversible DoT on Thorn would be the same as Suros restore health with every round instead of having a chance to restore health on any round in the last half of the cartridge. There either needs to be a mechanic to remove the DoT's as every other PVP game that has them that I have played has or remove the DoT and change to something else. The 3rd option is make Suros the counter to Thorn allowing every round to restore health instead of a chance to restore health. However that doesn't balance against other weapons. The 4th option is make the Thorn DoT a random round in the chamber which forces a reload once it's used to use again. Even then though an irreversible DoT is unbalancing in any PVP game

Shut up
-
Thorn is fine the way it is, but the burn self shouldn't be able to kill you.
-
The time to kill time in pvp needs to be balanced so everyone can use there favorite gun cause atm it's getting boring all you see is thorn, red death, the last word, vex 75% of the time or remove these guns from pvp.
-
Look, please quit crying about the thorn. Everyone should have one. If you dont, you arent playing the game right. Look at my stats. I suck at pvp, and i have two thorns. why? because i know how to get void kills. its not rocket science. i got my second one during iron banner. just figure out what you have to do and do it right. get your gun and chill.
-
Vex is way tougher for me to counter on these claustrophobic maps. I would assume fewer people have it. Thorn requires people to play smarter to NOT get killed, thus it is everyone's bane apparently
-
Best weapon --------------> used the most ^ l l l l l l V Gets nerfed <------------------ becomes OP
-
I use thorn and I don't have a problem with it being nerfed A LITTLE nothing like the AR Nerf though
-
Please bump me for reference.
-
It should be put back to how it was originally, it was fine
-
Git gud
-
We just don't want Thorn to end up like suros
-
Where's the 'git gud scrub' option?
-
How to balance it: Less range (like a bit it shouldn't be a sniper) Less ROF (only a little though) And make its poison not so hard to see through! If im going down i want to at least try and take down that -blam!-er with me!

Edited by TechnoKat: 6/5/2015 9:42:14 AMHere's a thought. Put it back to the way it was. The old Thorn? Great gun. You had to know how to use it. When it was a proper time to reload. How to pace your shots to counteract recoil. If you had half a brain you could use the gun and come out way positive. Now anyone and their grandma can pick it up and get kills. It's depressing.
-
thorn is only for people that cant aim and wont take the time to learn how to aim. The DOT does all the work for them. Its a crutch
-
The only change that I would make is that the poison should end when the player dies or the Dot should be dropped to 4 so that people would have to finish the kill rather than taking 2 shots and letting the poison kill the enemy.
-
Used it last night in IB and i discovered exactly what I expected. It's overhyped, it is not the guaranteed fight winner people have drumed it up to be. I actually had better luck when I switched to my nearly fully upgraded suros. By the way my thorn is maxed out
-
Red Death is the Thorn Nerf >:D
-
TLW is better than Thorn. The thing is ppl hate being killed by a gun they have but don't use. Use it. Or don't. Just stop whining about. Holy sh!t enough is enough. Y'all sound like kids crying in the backseat "Bobby's on my side! Ricky's looking at me." If you're getting killed by Thorn anytime you see it, it's time to play a different game. This game isn't for you.

Edited by OneKills99Alibis: 6/5/2015 4:00:33 PMI voted "other" because of a lot of reasons.. 1) Thorn was my first exotic. Pre-expansion. It was utter shit and easily in the top 5 worst guns in game. 2) I've looked at a majority of players crying thorn nerf.. Christmas noobs. This might not apply to anyone here, but point is they don't remember how bad it was, they just get mad when they get shot down on approach with their favorite shotguns. 3) Thorn is a LEGEND among exotics of lore. MORE SO THAN GJALLARHORN. Don't quote me here, and correct lore-wise if needed. Gjallarhorn was gifted to survivors of twilight gap, made from the armor of fallen lights.. I think the titans and hunters who held the line were wearing Alpha Lupi armor and it was crafted from that. Thorn however stopped the most legendary titan ever to grace the crucible, killed Pahanin (creator of super good advice) and apparently did so in the hands of the legendary dredgen Yor. I.E it's a badass looking gun with a badass history. It shouldn't be some pea shooter. 4) Thorn has never been more balanced in Rof-power and all the complaints AGREE with me because all they cry about is the burn, which, sorry, isn't going anywhere. Hawkmoon can out-damage thorn any day with its perks, and TLW will shred thorn users up close. If it wasn't for the burn a lot of people wouldn't even use the gun because it'd be just another vanilla hand cannon. 5) Some Legendary hand cannons easily outclass Thorn. Two of mine being Red Hand (insert Roman numerals here) and Loner.Rebel, but there's more including FateBringer, Devil you Know, and so on. So is an Exotic really "overpowered" if it can be out shot by a purple? No people. No. 6) All of you have your opinions. And most of you are probably gonna just go "nuh-uh stfu skrub it's OP and were gonna strike until it's fixed". Well here's an unbiased truth to either side. Bungie only half listens to any of us. People cried about SUROS being OP. Got nerfed. People cried about Vex being OP. Pew pew pew foam darts. BUT, I've never seen Bungie undo a buff they added to anything. Ever. I'm sorry guys, but I really doubt they did all the work to buff thorn back up just to knock it back down. This is the most legitimate argument I could come up with, Sincerely, some guy who doesn't use Thorn in anything. ------------------------- Edit: I feel like after all the argument I did I should kind of explain why I don't use it.. It's the sight lines. Idk. Something about the big bulky profile of the barrel effs with my fung shwei and I can't use the thing worth a poop. I'm somehow ok with hawkmoon though.

Hush little baby don't you cry, Thorn's gonna sing you a lullaby. Two straight shots to your head, to make sure you wind up stone-cold dead. And if that good ol' Thorn don't kill, Damage Over Time will make sure it will. Fusions and shotguns don't you fret, post mortem kills is what we'll get. And if you're still alive, be-ware. There's plenty more Thorns in the Garden out there.
-
While I am worried it will be nerfed into oblivion, I do think it needs a nerf. Whether it's OP or not isn't the point, the point is about 70% of people in the crucible use it exclusively. When a gun is that popular there's obviously something about it that makes it worth using over every other gun and Bungie has said they don't want any one weapon to be the obvious choice, which to be honest atm, Thorn is. My suggestion would be to revert it to it's pre buff stats but keep the extra DoT damage for PVE and maybe the extra reload speed. Currently its base stability is pretty high and that's what makes it so good, it's easy to use. A stability nerf would make getting the second shot harder and that would pretty much balance it out.
-
In my opinion hand cannons are High Risk and Reward weapons in crucible because if you miss during an engagement and an opponent with an AR closes in on you due to their ability to strafe you could be killed. In contrast hand cannons the majority can kill in as little as two shots, and sometimes 1. The nerf argument is understandable, however I'm against it because I truly believe people will complain about another OP weapon.
-
If they nerf the thorn everyone will complain about red death or the next gun/armor
