Why shouldn't thorn be nerfed in pvp (Resonable discussion)
Thorn is much better than every single weapon in pvp and if you believe in a balanced pvp you should want a nerf. If u don't tell me why. Please have well though out answers and no shit like 'git gud'. Be sensible

I don't think it needs nerfing maybe poison being disabled in ToA as well as other similar damage over time effects purely because it's meant to reward skilled players and I don't think killing someone who shot you the same amount due to poison shows that

I honestly think it needs to be nerfed from the fact if you have the aim you can still snipe people with it and it takes 2 crits to kill most the time.

The only way I can think of nerfing it that would be fair is make the mark of the devourer activate only when you get a precision hit.

I'm calling it now. When bungie nerfs Thorn they [i]will[/i] go overboard and turn it into garbage. A new gun will take it's place and then all these "nerf" threads will be about said gun. #EndlessCycleIsEndless

2 RepliesEdited by ThatVenomousCat: 6/4/2015 7:20:43 AMpeople that use its exotic status as an excuse for it being extremely op in pvp. i don't give a damn how rare/hard to get something is it shouldn't be able to dominate pvp. there must be balance. it can be op where being op is ok. in pve. make it great in pve as a staple of its exotic status and make it average in pvp because pvp shouldn't be full of guns that can overpower all others it needs balance.

Wouldn't be a problem if weapon balancing was correct they nerfed auto rifles to much. Scout rifles should get buffed besides the mida multitool. Sniper rifles shouldnt require head shots to kill someone should be chest and higher. Shotguns need reworking by that I mean people shpuldnt be actively trying to get one particular shotgun just because its better its a shotgun they should all be pretty similar. Some machine guns have way to much recoil like super good advice an exotic weapon no one uses makes since to me

3 Repliesyou have lost your mind. i won't say what weapon really needs attention, because it's my favorite weapon. but it sure as hell isn't thorn. when you play against people in rumble who are literally in the top 50 or so in the world, they sure as hell aren't using thorn. it is really only overpowered in certain situations. but in 1v1, not across the map, i slaughter thorn users unless they're considerably better than me at the game, period. i am a slightly above average player. i often wreck people probably considerably better than me in 1v1 who are using thorn. just played against some kid way better than me in rumble and i was beating him every single time because he was using thorn. then he switched to another weapon, which i won't even mention, and began to wreck me. keep making thorn posts. please keep making thorn posts

I played a match of IB and the majority of the players where using exotic hand-cannons, I just don't like the idea that or concept that I should be forced into using one weapon type I think that they should bring AR's up a little One idea I had about the Thorn was maybe decrease burn damage, or make it take longer to deal the same amount of damage The major problem is Bungie don't know how to do small balance changes

Pre-buff Thorn had less rounds and 3 dmg for DoT, then people cried on here about it being trash. Post-buff Thorn now has everyone else wanting it back to how it was so its not a viable exotic. Honestly, if they remove the DoT in pvp, they should remove all exotics perks because that is what it would be doing

Poison should proc on headshots. No more famous 3-shot body shots.

Re-buff auto rifles and call it a day. There's nothing wrong with thorn in the slightest, exotic guns are exotic for a reason. I remember when there was a thorn that was a piece of trash, and 50+ threads were made begging for a buff. And now, once they got their wish, there's 50+ threads begging for a nerf. There's more hypocrites in this community than I've ever seen in a gaming community. They Re-buff AR's and the variety returns. And that's my thoughts on the thorn debate.

Easiest solution is to take off DoT when in PVP, same as Red Death(Remove health regen) Then Crucible is balanced, it's balanced now cause everyone is using them. A fireteam of me plus randoms owned a clan yesterday, 1st game they came out guns blazing 2xVex, 2xThorn, 1 Red Death and Blinker not grabbing zones with Last Word. I think most of us was testing guns out cause not Thorn was fired from my team. Took us all by surprise at first but we regrouped and beat them. After that we all must have thought the same thing and all switched to OP..................We destroyed them 3 games in a row until they left. Oh how we laughed :)

The only way we'd get a relatively balanced PVP in this game is if everyone was forced to wear white-rarity armor and use white-rarity weapons. The obnoxious amount of thorn usage going on is why i'm mostly using Red Death in IB too, gotta counter that burn.

The time to kill should be quicker to make all guns perform how they should! But I doubt they will ever do this.
