Why shouldn't thorn be nerfed in pvp (Resonable discussion)
Thorn is much better than every single weapon in pvp and if you believe in a balanced pvp you should want a nerf. If u don't tell me why. Please have well though out answers and no shit like 'git gud'. Be sensible

Thorn needs a nerf sorry. The other guns don't need buffs HC need nerfs. Destiny isn't supposed to have a super short TTK like CoD, make some nerfs, and some buffs so every gun is viable.

I love how you ask for a reasonable discussion and then put 'think' it's balanced and tell us it's definitely not balanced. You can say it's 100% not balanced without question but nobody else can say otherwise without it being an 'incorrect' opinion... Sounds like a reasonable discussion.

When something is being used by well over 60+% of the player base in a competitive game type something is wrong. That itself should show that it is OP and the ultimate crutch. Even red death if you hit the thorn user twice in the head, if he hits you in the head you die first by a small margin. TLW is really the only viable option and only works close to the thorn user because to beat him you'll need to fire it automatic.

[u]It is like this:[/u] This game is more difficult than others in regards to dealing with multiple enemies at once. There are only a handful of guns that can help you mitigate the amount of threats that you are facing. If you are not using these guns, you are not handling every situation to the maximum ability that you can. So why would you NOT use the thorn/TLW/Hawkmoon/Red Death(RIP suros)? Hipsters and try hards can run around all day and talk about how amazing they are because they don't use OP weapons. At the end of the day, if there was actually a competitive side of destiny, those same players would get destroyed be equal level opponents, using the better guns.

People never used to complain about thorn until ARs got nerfed to shit, they really need to undo that last nerf to ARs to make them a better choice. All PvP is now is thorn and TLW, and of course shotguns....Problem is, if thorn gets nerfed we will need a nerf for TLW as well, which will just lead to red death being called op, and after that gets nerfed it will be another weapon, etc. The problem isn't necessarily thorn, it's the fact that bungie has done a bad job balancing PvP, and even worse is the fact that PvP and PvE are so intertwined that PvE gets screwed constantly by the nerfs that should have no place in PvE.

I'm going to be called crazy for saying this, but thorn was still pretty op in PvP when the game came out. As long as you stayed back with it. But it was terrible in pve. It's usable now in pve at the cost of PvP. It'd be okay if the damage over time didn't kill you in two hits or if it had a short range.

I want to see the thorn taken out of matchmaking all together. Or neff it so bad people nonlonger want to use it. Think about it, if it takes me 5 headshots with a vision to get a kill. Why should someone be able to shoot twice with a thorn and run away and get theres? Its just not fair to those of us who refuse to use the gun on account of how cheap and "noobish" it is. Its like duel weilding needlers in h3. Cmon bungie.

Poison should activate on precision shots only and the rate of fire should be slowed to match that of other handcannons. That will then generate a weapon that requires aim and skill not this two body shots and run away crap I see so often

9 RepliesI'm sorry in my opinion the thorn is the easiest gun to use and if a player uses it they aren't that good they are just relying on a crutch to win, and I'm sure there are people that will say"git gud" or some other thing bit if you were truly good you wouldn't have to rely on a broken weapon.

1 ReplyI voted Other for I think Thorn should not be nerfed at all. Not a single gun should anymore, and AR should probably be restored to their former glory. Why? Destiny's PvP is by its very nature unbalanced. Even if some matchmaking lists like "Void Arcanists suros only" were set up by Bungie, it would never be. Weapons are a way to level the field, and the Thorn is just another gun which anybody can wield. The way I see it, the players calling for a nerf on any weapon do so to help them have a "fair fight" against the said weapon. Well, fair will not be achieved this way. If a specific weapon gets nerfed, players will just move on to the next most efficient one, repeating the cycle. I say no nerf, but instead learn how to counter playstyles that come with guns.

5 RepliesPeople don't seem to understand that in weapon balancing, personal skill is completely irrelevant. Weapons should have roughly the same TTK, end of discussion. Thorn is the only weapon to have DOT, even when the Thorn user has died, it can finish the kill, it also has a range comparable to pulse rifles. Last Word is just ridiculously OP at close range. In most PVP games, 80% of the opposing team are using these weapons....... just look at what it's like in IB/ Trials......

5 RepliesIt shouldn't be nerfed because it's an EXOTIC. It requires exclusive game play to acquire. As an EXOTIC it should have a skill set different and above others and offer the satisfaction that it was WELL EARNED. People who own the thorn are not invincible, they just have an EARNED advantage.

1 ReplyMy concern is that the thorn is an incredible weapon that you work very hard for. I don't own one, but it is a valuable opponent in the crucible. If they nerf, it should be a light one. Like reducing either the damage burn timer or the damage per tick. But don't totally throw it into oblivion like the vex.

5 RepliesTLW is the fastest DPS ingame for HC, but requires you to land your hits. Thorn is 2 shot after that DoT takes over and requires nothing more from the user. Hawkmoon can OHKO or 2HKO.. all luck involved.

I think that the damage if the weapon is fine, but it needs rate of fire and range need nerfing.

All that needs to be changed is the DOT shouldn't kill guardians. Everything else people are exaggerating about. It's range is fine.
