Why shouldn't thorn be nerfed in pvp (Resonable discussion)
Thorn is much better than every single weapon in pvp and if you believe in a balanced pvp you should want a nerf. If u don't tell me why. Please have well though out answers and no shit like 'git gud'. Be sensible

I use it. The last cries from the player base to "nerf" guns led to the downfall of the suros as a go to but also made the whole AR line a disappointment to use in pvp. I would love the old AR battles of days past but as things change we change with them. Until they make a challenge mode with only vanilla weapons - use what works to have a good time and play your way.

It's incredibly annoying to play against. The only counter is Red Death. You can't nerf this thing either; it's DoT is what makes it an exotic, and nerfing its crit damage would do little to help its situation. We need more COUNTERS to Thorn, not nerfs. I used to use it all the time, and now I don't. It does take skill to use, btw; landing those two oh so very important head shots is a lot more challenging than it sounds. Even if you can't land crits, it takes about four body shots in addition to the DoT to kill someone. Overused, not OP

They buffed it to not make it not useless, I doubt they're going to nerf it even if people continue to think of "reasonable" alternatives.

The DoT should be sped up but the same amount of damage, this gives a chance for shields to come back up. Thorn is an assist machine all day because of the duration of Mark of the Devourer. This can "nerf" it but still leave it as potent.

The only issue I have with thorn is DoT always activates, I'd rather see it only reward headshots. Gun is ok otherwise, ARs need a buff...

3 RepliesWhat's stopping you from using the thorn if it's so good. Do you know how Bungie decides to do weapon balance? They look at the stats... if you use thorn then it adds to the stats for people using thorn. Then when Bungie digs up the stats and realizes say 75% of players level 30 and above are using Thorn in PvP they will inevitably nerf it to get people to use other weapons. If you want it nerfed then put your ego aside and just use it to lose it.

I can beat thorn users with my Ill Will. 2 shots to the head, then I sit down to stop the DoT. If you sit it reduces the DoT dmg.

90% of the time my vex burns thorns to a crisp. I know what your saying, vex is another scrub gun. My response, I know, I suck, that's why I use it haha

They will nerf it eventually... The evidence is the fact that they've done it twice already (Vex, Regime). Use it now, enjoy it, it won't be this way forever.

They shouldn't NERF it. But they should remove the [b]Damage Over Time[/b] perk in PvP. Then it would be a bit more fair. If they nerf it again, they will nerf it into the ground completely.

They got it through crucible. Wasn't a luck drop like vex. They didnt buy it and I like killing kids that think they are invincible.

Thorn should just be changed so that's it has as much of a chance to burn enemies as invective regenerates ammo lolol
