I found this last week while coming back from the Gatelord area and was puzzled by it. As soon as you hit Campus 9 go straight until you hit the first vex gate and look down and a bit to the right. It looks as if it comes out of the mountainous area we are propped up on. Maybe just maybe like .000001% it's going to be an extension to VoG down the road.
Edit:I get that it's a skybox, but whom says i can't ask questions about what is it, what was it, why is it there, it's purpose. I guess that's why so many people bash on Destiny because the can't use their imagination to think outside of the box.

Have you tried shooting a rocket at it? If there's an explosion there has to be something physical there. I know it's most likely a skybox though but it looks very interesting.
-
I've seen those ruins or whatever they may be. There's things like this on all of the planets. On Mars there's a bunch of spires or towers in the valley below the Black Garden's gate. On Earth there looks to be a large abandoned manufacturing facility off the Forgotten Shore. The Moon has what looks like solar farms scattered around its surface in the distance. When you fight Phogoth if you look out from the platform below where you fight him, you'll see Hive structures off in the distance; along with some very eerie, very large spider webs. My guess is it's all just details added in to make the environment look interesting to those that notice. Still they're cool to spot.

It's a forest. VoG can't be extended
-
A skybox can't be an extension of something because it's not even a model with textures.

A BIG FAT NOTHING IS WHAT YOU FOUND!!! I look at this post expecting something cool and nothing, shame on you sir .

I love how you thought you were being smart and all with 'whom' in the edit even though it's wrong...

Edited by ThisMahSwamp: 6/3/2015 7:00:37 PMThere is a similar and, at least to me, more curious place off in the distance on Mars. It is located in the very first room when you enter the gate for the Black Garden mission. Know where the ghost is for that area? Hop up there again, but this time jump to the furthest ledge just off to the right. You should be able to crouch through a hole in the wall which has red/orange light coming through it. Once through, turn slightly right, and ADS on a sniper rifle. You will see multiple structures with faces on them off in the distance, not to mention the level pathing for the Black Garden. Kinda looks like a bunch of these, but ascending up some stairs towards a larger structure. Then again, it is just a background picture, but it is of structures never seen in Destiny as of yet.

You can go there .. I did once there is a portal

Edited by KidSixXx: 6/3/2015 7:55:22 PMProbably just filler background just like the random Ahamkara sightings you get on Venus and the satellite that orbits the moon.
-
It's not our lack of ability to think outside the box. Video games, especially open world ones... give us the freedom to truely explore outside that box. Destiny does not.
-
Try shooting a rocket at it, if there is no explosion, it is most likely a background. But telling you now, there's no secrets in this game anymore, the population is far too dense for something to be hidden.
-
Not sure. Cool find, though. Bungie is famous for games riddled with easter eggs. I still remember the DaVinci egg in H3, and that was by far the coolest easter egg I've ever seen in ANY game. I'm sure Destiny is filled, they're just beyond hard to find considering the sheer size.

You have some great ideas but the problem with that being an extension to VoG is that the VoG is an entirely different dimension made by The Vex, it doesn't exist in our universe. That could be some sort of shrine though. Nice find.
-
I think you may have found..
a background picture
-
Go to the gate lord and go to the right and look off the edge Their are animated flying dragon things
-
Just background...
-
It's a skybox.
-
They are just Vex ruins
-
That's really interesting. I'll probably go check it out later.
-
it looks like back ground to Ori and the Blind Forest
