We're adding Matchmaking to the Wish List thread to acknowledge the request that has been made by many of you. You have my personal assurances that the design teams know you want it. They've seen the conversation.
My comments about using your time here to make friends and play games were an attempt to provide ideas for immediate solutions to the issue of needing people to play with. I'm not here to invalidate anyone's opinion, but I do have my own experiences with with building teams to play games together. If I could move one of you closer to taking matchmaking into your own hands, it would be worth the scorn.
As for deliberate forum censorship on the part of anyone at Bungie? I can guarantee that these things are not happening. The algorithms that sort forum topics do their own thing. The only time we influence that is when one of you is violating the code of conduct.

As they stated, Vault size is based on RAM. This also applies to our start menus when in a battle. Having 512mb of RAM makes it nearly impossible for our consoles to render the battle and load the resource heavy menu screen where we can change gear or load a synth. Had they used a simpler system much of this wouldn't be an issue. I believe this game was designed for the new gen consoles and then made backwards compatible without seeing how it actually played. We're all paying for their mistakes right now.

I'm pretty sure old Gen can handle matchmaking...it does it for everything that the ps4 does...matchmaking has more to do with data behind the scenes and servers running queries on who's what...vault space has to do with memory, video and objects on screen...they probably could have left the compare option in but it would have more than likely taken a big hit on performance....

I can't say as I know for an absolute sure and certain fact, but I don't buy into it. Just imo.
I do have my own experiences with with [sic] building teams to play games together
Deej, do you have experience with games that have built in matchmaking?
-
I don't see why you wouldn't put it in. I been playing destiny since the beta. I have work till 8 at night Tuesday most of my friends dont. So bye the time I get off they are do e nightfalls, raids, and now the POE. And for people that don't want it don't use it team up. The players that do want it can use it. It isn't rocket science to see it can work both ways.
-
I would just like a straight answer from bungie yes we will bring it in or no it's never going to happen I couldn't care less if it's been added to a list.
-
But what if the answer is "We're working on coming up with a solution that will actually work, but haven't found something viable yet"? I get why there's no Raid matchmaking, or at least the philosophy behind it. With people actively searching for players to play with, they're much more likely to be in it for the long haul of an entire Raid than a kid who's never done it before seeing "Raid Matchmaking," jumping in for a few minutes, ruining the experience for everyone (by intentional death or ineptitude), then leaving because Mommy's calling him off to dinner. I think Bungie's biggest fear in that would be turning people off from the Raid because they're having consistently "meh" (or worse) experiences from the Raid. Well, what if they just let people drop into Raids and such? Fill the team up after players drop out? I think the fear there is that, within the Raid, you may have players who really needed something from an earlier chest (high chances of Radiant Materials early in Crota's End, or something) and coming in late, only to receive a small bit of the spoils. Unless they make it so you can have a checkpoint preference, people may get screwed out of materials (and locked out of further gear due to weekly limits for each chest) by playing the same part of an incomplete Raid over and over. Some players may be more prone to simply do a part and bail, leaving the group waiting for a new match to come through and bail them out. If that takes too long, impatient players may leave and become disgruntled with the Raid themselves. So far, using an LFG (or even Bungie's own forums) has gotten me players who are in it for the long haul every time, except the occasional bailer who leaves after multiple failures/he simply runs out of time (both rather rare). It's a nuisance to go outside of the game for a minute, but it's been worth the effort. Could it be an option to just have MM in the game? Sure, I don't see why not. But if Bungie's afraid of the consequences that may bring (above), they may still be in the process of fine-tuning a system that does work.

Back for the daily bump.
-
For Raids I would be more in favor of in-game LFG. You don't buy half a car and all that.
-
That's right deej, use your wits and shut em down.

Edited by LONE RONIN2012: 6/2/2015 3:02:34 PMI would highly recommend that they add it. I don't see players dropping this topic. As for the censoring issue. It was clearly stated on OP's thread that it was unavailable and "Awaiting ninja justice" when you opened the link. Not accusing, just informing.
-
I don't agree about the censorship.
-
Nope. Neither do I.
-
Edited by LONE RONIN2012: 6/2/2015 2:45:34 PMI don't either since OP's post was completely removed with a message saying it was unavailable and "Awaiting ninja justice" when I opened it in my web browser. And anyone that wants to debate it I have the screen image photo.
-
If enough people report a post, that's what happens to it.
-
Only those I can think of who would report a post are either bored little twatsicles or denizens who treat this game as more of a business than well... An actual game.

I like no matchmaking. I have more bad experiences with matchmaking giving me two crap players who dont know what they are doing then i have good experiences. I have plenty of friends to play poe with.

Learn to read. OPTIONAL Matchmaking.
-
Oh i know how to read, i just wasnt in the mood to read such a long post this morning. Matchmaking isnt a good idea for end game content because you dont know what you are gunna get. You could be matched with an afk person while doing the 34 strike snd what are you going to do, even if you report him for inactivity that isnt going to remove him from the group he will sit in a safe spot and every now and then twiddle his thumbsticks. There are too many unknowns to have matchmaking for poe higher then 32.
-
Yeah man, I don't understand why people want to be grouped with randoms not using mics. The end game content requires communication and you can't get that with matchmaking. We have websites that find us groups for this kind of stuff and people still cry for opportunities to find shit groups so they can come back on these forums and complain about it.
-
Edited by VisualTube83: 6/2/2015 12:51:53 PMThank you. Looking forward to everything matchmaking. In the mean time I use Destiny app recruitment for my teams. Which in my opinion is almost the same as getting randoms from matchmaking. Almost because most of the time matchmaking players don't talk. But still as effective a team most of the times.

There is absolutely NO valid argument against OPTIONAL matchmaking. Optional matchmaking would not affect those wanting to form teams or those wanting to run solo. But it would satisfy a huge group of people who currently spend more time on forums and LFG 3rd party boards trying to find a team, and risking a fireteam leader using you and then booting you. It's frustrating being a professional that works long hours, and would like to experience all the content destiny has to offer - but wasting most of my precious "me" time on a website looking for a group, while I'm in orbit. Can I make friends and add them? Sure - but they aren't always on, they may already have a regular group. And sorry Deej, I don't work in an office where everyone plays Destiny - so gathering a team isn't as easy for some of us as it is you. Again, there is not a single valid argument against OPTIONAL matchmaking. Quit alienating a large group of users and putting them down by "no friends" shaming them. Optional MM doesn't affect those that don't want to use it, doesn't affect your end game content, and those that want to use the optional MM know they will get a jerk teammate every once in a while, but will be getting access to content/fun teams the other 99% of the time. We have listed several pros to this optional MM argument, what's the downside Deej? There isn't one. End of story.

Actually there have been plenty arguments you guys just shut them down because "lol i'm wrong don't wanna hear it".
