We're adding Matchmaking to the Wish List thread to acknowledge the request that has been made by many of you. You have my personal assurances that the design teams know you want it. They've seen the conversation.
My comments about using your time here to make friends and play games were an attempt to provide ideas for immediate solutions to the issue of needing people to play with. I'm not here to invalidate anyone's opinion, but I do have my own experiences with with building teams to play games together. If I could move one of you closer to taking matchmaking into your own hands, it would be worth the scorn.
As for deliberate forum censorship on the part of anyone at Bungie? I can guarantee that these things are not happening. The algorithms that sort forum topics do their own thing. The only time we influence that is when one of you is violating the code of conduct.

This would have been alot funnier if you took the "laugh" away.

Thank you DeeJ!

I've taken you clan advice 5 times now. 5 times now I've been subjected to racist, sexist, and homophobic chat rooms. Clans are not everyone's answer.

Edited by Musashi Orboro3: 6/1/2015 6:53:53 PMReal quick, Deej. Though you and others at Bungie may think manual matchmaking is preferable, some preferences don't hold true for everyone, especially when it comes to gaming. Just because one person plays a certain way doesn't mean that someone else should be made to play the same way. The bigger issue is the elephant in the room, something that many people have touched on: A lot of people feel that Bungie is trying to dictate how they play Destiny. From endgame content, to weapon nerfs, to RNG, to leveling gear players have been extremely resistant because we feel like we are being herded in directions that we don't want to go, which is never good for any game.

Just out of curiosity, does the algorithm you mentioned put a timer on topics that make it to 'Highest Rated' in an effort to keep new topics cycling through?
-
Deej, we do take matchmaking into our own hands. That's why destinylfg.net exists. We hate that we have to. I have added about 20 players to my friends list for this, and still it's not always enough.
-
Here it is folks. Straight from the community manager. Your calls have been heard. Now, let's get back to other topics and stop the spamming.

Action speaks louder than words.

Hey, I wanted an actual answer. With actual facts in it. And after some Augean stables style fun, we got it. I'm good, for now. If it turns out they're blowing smoke up our collective butt, we'll start at them again. :D
-
Haha. Man I'm glad we got one.

I doubt it will stop until we see it happen.

Thank you.

It's nice to see the current "hot topic" get added to the wish list (or, as it is so far, a promise that it will be). On the topic of that list, might I suggest that you try to sort it so it gives some idea of the dev team's priorities? For example, if they consider it more important to provide a way to dispose of consumables in bulk ("Dismantle Consumable Items") than provide Guardian facial hair, put it higher on the list? Right now the list seems to be ordered chronologically by when items were added, and is much more analogous to a parrot than a conversation.
-
Such organization could be misconstrued as confirmation that the team is working on something, or as an indictment against a community request when it's at the bottom of the list. Might be nice to have, but I'll just about guarantee you it'll never happen.
-
I acknowledge that you have a point, but it would hold a much more weight if the Wish List post didn't have a big fat "this is no form of promise" disclaimer built into it. My suggestion would merely be a way for the developers, through Deej, to communicate how their priorities matched up with the players. Deej keeps saying they want to keep us in the loop - this would be a nice way to do that.
-
True enough, I forgot about the disclaimer there. As I said, might be nice to have.
