We're adding Matchmaking to the Wish List thread to acknowledge the request that has been made by many of you. You have my personal assurances that the design teams know you want it. They've seen the conversation.
My comments about using your time here to make friends and play games were an attempt to provide ideas for immediate solutions to the issue of needing people to play with. I'm not here to invalidate anyone's opinion, but I do have my own experiences with with building teams to play games together. If I could move one of you closer to taking matchmaking into your own hands, it would be worth the scorn.
As for deliberate forum censorship on the part of anyone at Bungie? I can guarantee that these things are not happening. The algorithms that sort forum topics do their own thing. The only time we influence that is when one of you is violating the code of conduct.

Yea matching in the wishlist. Is that above or below Tom Selleck mustaches?

Edited by Jake cant shoot: 7/30/2015 5:22:16 PMHey deej just wanted to ask.. how did you meet your clan you played with in halo? Did you meet any of those folks playing online via matchmaking? Private matches? Being able to chat with enemy players. (Even during matches) How did this stuff not get brought into destiny? If you weren't CM and in the spotlight I'd bet you'd agree that Bungie dropped the ball on this one
-
Same point I made somewhere in the sea of comments. He knows nothing of what it's like to struggle with no Clan.. No friends. He had etheric light dropped into his inventory. Weapons and armor too. He is not aware of the exact feeling of loss of hope we experience when we're new, learning and eventually desperate.

How are you going to become legend if you don't earn your GAME-CHANGING first year emblem? It'll be tough to take down Skolas as a 32, but you may finally be able to tackle Crota if you get lucky through LFG. Then again, you'll probably get turned down since you don't have a Ghorn. If only there was optional matchmaking so that players couldn't get discriminated against for not having certain items. Ghee wiz, that almost makes too much sense...

Hey Deej. So, simply put raid matchmaking will only make the game better. You know the numbers. Many guardians have not experienced a raid. Simply add matchmaking to normal raids ONLY! Forever. After the hard mode variant is released, add matchmaking to normal mode. If this newly formed fireteam is able to conquer normal mode they can then proceed to hard mode. We have a template already in place. Prison of Elders. POE 28 is matchmaking, which we assume would be to get players a taste of the experience ahead and prepare them for rest of the Prison. Destiny is one of the best and most unique experiences I have had on gaming. I am in for the long haul. I understand the initial stance of the challenge involved would require a premade fireteam, but I feel it's better to see people complaining in the forums about how they can't figure out the Templar fight, then they don't know how to find 5 other people to experience this amazing game type. The more happy guardians we have the better for all of us, in game today and in the future.

Hey Deej, You're doing a good job. Thanks for the public acknowledgement and addition to the wishlist. I'm not sure what people expect from you but you're doing a fine job. Xoxo, Tarbal81

Edited by JackDaRipper: 7/26/2015 8:37:27 PMYou just double talked and backstepped every other copy paste response you have ever given about mm!! "Mm isn't our philosophy here at bungie" lmao! Now it's we are listening and it was a "temporary solution" ya a temporary solution that you never intended on fixing... It's almost unbelievable..
-
Don't worry Deej/Cozmo/Bungie I love what you guys are doing. Do some things need improvement? Yeah sure, nothing's perfect in this universe. Does it mean you hate us/ignore us? Hell no. Keep it up, you guys!
-
Dude, how brainwashed are you? You sound like a total tool.
-
And brainwashed, somehow
-
Apparently acknowledging that things need improvement and that they don't hate/ignore us, now means I'm a tool. Thanks for that particular lessons in how to not use logic

May I ask why and how optional matchmaking cannot work?
-
Communication. Being liable of your action to the Fireteam leader. Promotes players to reach out together to make connections. If matchmaking existed many fewer people would search out clans and make teams that way. Many time Bungie devs have stated that the community is their biggest pride of how this game works.
-
The point of optional means that you do not have to use it, so I do not get how it can't work, ya no mics mite be an issue but seriously, being forced to search for a fire outside the game is worse, sometimes I wanna just jump right into a game and not have to spend an hour or 2 to search.
-
That is the problem, it would be too easy, no noob would ever bother searching for mics, so they would end up hitting a ceiling, being unable to pass the first major raid or even some of the harder (post ttk) strikes.
-
Edited by Wesinator69: 12/9/2015 1:44:53 AMEveryone on PS4 has a mic. Whether or not they use it is debatable but the console comes with one. Devs should not use player behavior as justification for ignoring hardware that is already available to EVERY PS4 player. Player behavior will change as the game content changes. Without the game content giving the player an option, the player has no choice either way. (If you bought your PS4 used without a mic then you probably bought a mic anyway or aren't playing games that use them.)
-
That would be the noobs problem right lol.
-
They need to bring in an in game LFG mechanic. Inputting selectable filters to find people in the same category and send invited or join. Now Gally us the mist op weapon and no one needs to use it but a huge amount if players do showing that people will take the easy route. I wouldn't be surprized if it took them do long was because they wanted to test us. Bungie conspiracy theories aside, matchmaking for teamwork focus co-ordinated gameplay is a bad idea unless you know before hand what kind if player you are gonna play with.
-
If matchmaking was optional your logic would hold true. But until matchmaking is PROVEN TO FAIL this is all based on speculation or other games. How many people would agree that Destiny is similar to "other games"? Answer = few.
-
The devs have stated they want us to reach out and find people to play with. Make connections. In game LFG would help that process.
-
You guys need to look ahead... I'm pretty sure at the end of the day you need to realize that this isn't YOUR game... And changing things takes time.. Glitches and bugs take time to track and fix.. And acting something that wasn't there before isn't as easy as flipping a switch... Chill out people...
-
I'll think you'll find that it is the players game. In a constantly evolving game that continues to add new content, the players being to develop ownership through investment. Investment of time and money. By undermining or devaluing that ownership, the developer will run the risk of alienating the player base and the game fails. A game like Destiny will always run a balancing act in trying to challenge and inspire the players through delivering new and innovative content, listening to feedback, and making changes were appropriate. An example of this are the numerous changes to pvp made after the community continually asked for it to be balanced. And excellent example of working to keep the balance in check. A contrasting example is nerfing weapons no one asked to be nerfed and charging some areas more than others for new content. This will only lead to an angry player base who are less likely to continue playing.

Keep up the good work, deej. I'm stoked for TTK

If this is an attempt at transparency, I'm having a hard time seeing it....ok bad joke aside. "It's on our Wish List thread", is only a tad better than saying, "It's on our wall of crazy." Yes, a company has said that about valid ideas and concerns. Great PR guys Game, not so much. But hey at least we have a wish list. Is the rest of the game on there too? Sorry, it's just hard not to jab back when it feels like we are getting rabbit punched.
