I guess I ask a lot of questions XD due to me going back to the games and more questions than answers pop up:
1.) How did the forerunners all die?
2.)How did the didact survive
3.) what happened to colonel holand from halo reach

1.) Many of them died from the Flood, while the rest were killed by Halo's activation. A handful survived, but they have since left known space. 2.) He was placed in a Combat Cryptum, safe from Halo's energies. 3.) Given that less than two percent of the population made it off of Reach, he most likely died on August 30th.

1; Mass Halo rings firing 2: It is somewhat unclear, but from what I gathered it seems he can't be composed 3: Colonel Holland is dead.

This is an actual spoiler, so read at your own risk. [spoiler] In Halo escalation, The Master Chief and Blue Team confront the Didact, and long story short he ends up being composed at the Composer's Forge. It is currently unknown [i] how[/i] he was composed because it is stated he is immune to the effects of the composer, however when he was fired directly at by 6 composers at the Composer's Forge, he was somehow still composed[/spoiler] I don't have the answer as to how or why it happened, but it'll probably have a pretty large plot significance later on in the story.
