*the drone flies over the area in question. strange dark purple trees protrude from the gray surface. at the center of the strange ring is a hole which seems to have no bottom, it seems not even light escapes the darkness below. there doesn't seem to be any animals though.*
"command are you seeing this?"
*off the comms*
"I've never seen anything like that..."

*gasps are heard from voices in the command center.* hold for a second Explorer-1, we're calling the commander. *i get on the comms* "Alright, looks like we have some sort of anomaly here. Strange, this may be what the natives referred to in one of the peace talks. They spoke vaguely of structures on the moon that were there one day yet gone the next. If you wish to explore it send in the drone and only the drone. We cannot risk losing lives. Have your pilot on standby with dropship in case of an emergency.

"copy that." *off comms* "alright command wants us to search the anomaly with the drone. start now and update me any time something happens." *comms to dropship* "be on standby for extraction, we found a strange anomaly out here and may need extraction. we will update you if something happens." *the drone descends into the strange hole and our screens go dark. the lights on the drone activate but don't seem to work, the walls look as if they are far, far away from the drone.*

(From within the tunnel) *tunneling noises can be heard as if something is below still digging. Other indistinguishable noises are also being picked up but seem far away.*

"operator, pan the camera down please" *leans closer to the console*

*you see nothing at first as usual, then a light appears in the distance as if drawing you in. All noises cease.*

"continue." *comms too dropship* "head to our position now, something strange is happening out here." *comms to command* "something strange is happening in the anomaly, it sounds like something is digging inside it. that would explain where is came from but it raises another question... what is down there?" *on the screen the floor begins to come into view, though it seem so swallow the light*

(Command) Roger that, I recommend you and your men retreat to orbit and continue exploring with the drone from there. High tail it to the Alamo if something happens.

*comms to command* "our dropship is already inbound, it should be here sho-" *the ground begins to shake cutting the sentence off* "what the hell is that?!"

Explorer one get out of there! Escort ships are inbound. The Alamo is taking position to fire the railgun at the moon if necessary. You've been ordered to retreat, I repeat Retreat explorer one get the hell out of there!

*all vehicles peel out in the opposite direction of the strange hole* *comms to dropship* "transport! we're headed away from the anomaly, lock onto this signal and set down in our path! we need off the surface asap!" *a trail of gray dust and burnt tire wakes behind the vehicles*

*You here the scream of one of your explorers and look back to see the ground collapsed beneath his vehicle*

"shit! step on it!" *comms to transport* "where the hell are you?"

*evac arrives just meters away and turns around while opening the bay. Escort ships come into the atmosphere and hover above your position.*

*the vehicles speed into the bay, tires almost leaving the floor as they come over the lip. the drop ship shudders as its thrusters force it's large body off the ground. the moons surface falls away in the same moments the ships leaves it. the ship speeds up toward space.*

*the escort ships fall in line with you and lead you back to the Alamo* (Over comms) Explorer-1 come in this is command, report! We're reading a lot of life signs in your area."

"we lost a vehicle and two of our men, the moon collapsed under their tires. the rest of us are alright maybe some bruises. what do you mean you are detecting life? is it on the surface of the moon?" *looks out window of the cockpit at the gray satellite*

We see it below the surface, the commander is ordered us to connect him to the com. Hold. (Me) ok Lt. This is the commander. We're reading life forms beneath the surface, there also seems to be some around the edge coming onto the surface itself. Can you get a visual? Try using the drone if it is still operational.

"the drone was buried within the anomaly sir. I think I see something on the surface though." *looking out the small glass window the explorer sees sections of the sand begin to shake away. three long tentacle like organisms burst through the surface and into the air. there is an explosion and the transport leading the pack falls toward the surface of the moon.* "oh shit! evasive maneuvers, now! gain altitude!" *over comms* "sir, are you seeing this?!"

"We're seeing it Explorer-1. Get back to the Alamo, once you're out of the atmosphere we will fire the Main cannon at whatever the hell is down there."

"copy that, over." *leaving the moons atmosphere some of the men peer out the bay window at the large celestial object. as it shrinks into the distance a streak of light arcs across the blackness of space and collides with the satellite causing a flower of fire and grey dust.*

"We have no visual nor any readings. Can you confirm that we hit the life form?"

"I believe we did, but I have no visual. if you don't mind me suggesting, I think we should hang back until the smoke clears. get a better view. if nothing comes up then we'll go back, if something does I think we should shoot It again."

Roger that, we're loading another round as we speak.

*the transports land in the base and vehicles poor out the back. I walk out the back with my finger on my earpiece.* "copy that command. I will standby for further orders."

*i walk into the hanger and approach you* Lt, you and your men did excellent work, the moon is currently under quarantine as of now. As for the other moon, it is lush with plant life and possibly safer. Get some rest and once you and your men are ready report to me for orders
