These are all silly arguments in support of a repeatedly failed system. The one in place now works wonders in ways that randomized matchmaking services could never reproduce. It makes sense for the devs to add an area specific for meeting up, posting requests, and seeking guidance. They did just that by creating and releasing the awesome app I'm currently using. Times change and so does technology. Stay with the current or be swept aside.

  • Current system failed. This documented by the many people asking for MM and In game LFG. No one should have to waste their time searching for a group to play a large chunk of content.

A few people on some forums hardly account for majority held belief. That being said this could all be solved by putting the forum in a kiosk at the tower.

  • If you say so almighty master of statistics. Why do you care? Optional MM would not affect you if you don't want to use it.

  • It would! It would change the environment of the forums drastically and drive everyone into matchmaking, thus negating the potential for lfg. Simple really. I'm not trying to make statistical claims, and only suggest that I, as well as others, don't know them. I wasn't being condescending in my posts and so neither should you friend. Its quite impolite.

  • I know that it has been said before, but if LFG can be taken down so easy... Then it's a bad system people are forced use. Give us a better system. At a minimum in game LFG in social hubs. Sorry about the condescension, it was early and I didn't have my coffee yet.

  • 80 of the player base has never completed a raid. There's a majority for you. Oh, and if you watch the "latest" tab for awhile, you'll see MM as one of if not the most common topic going. Hence bungie altering the trending tab everyone starts on and the highest rated tab.

  • I'm trying really hard to be less hostile in this stuff. SO! While your opinion is so baseless and lacking in any form of accidental merit, it actually hurts my eyes a little. thanks for the input!

  • You can disagree. But if you like the idea of Destiny and what it can become, you may want to bring more people into the fold versus the opposite. Kind of hard to play a completely online game when no one is playing it...that's the direction they're headed in with Comet

  • You're argument isn't making sense. This game has a large and diverse player base. Lots of people frequent these forums and others like it. If you can't be bothered to open your phone or sit down behind your computer to find a partner then perhaps you should come out of the middle ages.

They can't and won't use the forums to recruit. However, they can get on the forums and write 15 extremely detailed complaint posts, argue incessantly with anyone who disagrees, and create discord. The truth is, there are enough people in this thread to have connected, made friends and downed Atheon several times despite any of our opinions. No need for inaccurate stats to see that simple reality.

Matchmaking is the higher tech. Looking on a forum for an hour for players only to find out they can't play worth a crap is annoying and time consuming. Matchmaking can find you a party in five minutes or less and if they end up being scrubs backout and try again. This makes getting into the game faster and you can be matched with similar players.

  • Until the system is fed misleading and often times bogus data that doesn't actually represent your assets or specific skills in hard to ascertain categories. Its the same reason IQ tests are so unreliable. The data doesn't cover everything and will feed people bullshit ideas about where they stack in the line up. Aggregators and shortcuts will marginalize players who depend on meeting people and forming dependable relationships. Having the freedom to determine who you play with is fundamental to experiencing long arduous tasks at their fullest. I ran matchmaking solo for years and never maintained a large friends list because everyone was in it silent trying to get their selfish gain. It was lonely and sucked by comparison. Now I use the forums and have 200+ active guardians to play with regularly. The forum now exists for me as a way to meet NEW friends and to help others. If we were allowed to just throw ourselves blindly into matchmaking this place would be ghost town ground zero and we would lose this resource.

  • Then use lfg. But matchmaking can be added as an option for those who want it. I bet if it were added as an option, you would secretly use it.

  • Goodie for you. You won't need optional matchmaking. You made the closest thing to a point you're going to. To continue is to be a troll.

  • Thats the nature of convenience of match making. If you like to use the forum then do so. Others want matchmaking. No reason both can't exist. Make it optional. I just don't see why people oppose matchmaking when it won't do anything to change the way they play.

I'm not against optimal matchmaking but for whatever reason, and I'm not speculating, Bungie takes a good bit of time to issue updates. Before tackling the financial and logistical burden of implementing servers for MM, they could instead implement dedicated servers. You guys say that you can't access content? There are literally people who's connection can't be matched with other players under the current peer to peer network(which basically just connects players to other players consoles: hence the animal codes). Hundreds of people are having a terrible time with crucible due to the pervasive lag caused by connecting players in such a random fashion. With no dedicated servers, scripts like "punk buster"(BF4) can't be ran server side to manage lag switchers and cheaters. Everyone of these issues hold just as much weight with the community and need to be addressed. If you experience horrid lag in PVP?= deal with it If you can't even connect or experience repeated disconnects? = deal with it If you don't understand crucible because you are pumping entire clips into a red bar player? = get gud scrub If your 9-0 streak is ruined by a DDOS attack? = stay out of trials. Having issues tackling end game content? = make friends and join the community, help others with content. For me, it's an issue of priority. And it's clear what that priority should be. Why is it not the concern of half of vocal minority? Because most people have no idea what "matchmaking" is. Immediately after these game destroying issues are handled, I will be right by your side about matchmaking, even though based on my own experience, clans and statics are more successful and more enjoyable.

  • It would degrade the forums by driving the player base into matchmaking. Decentralizing the location by which we (the majority of players) find and organize raids and crucible teams would be disastrous and revert the game back to the draconian halo days of matchmaking terror.

  • That's actually a good point. The fact that MM would decimate the people slogging through LFG sites is a great example of why MM as at least an option is the way to go! If LFG was SO much better, adding MM wouldn't do a thing, because nobody would use it. But as you just yourself said, everyone WOULD go to it. Because the results are no better or worse, you simply get them with the press of a button and in literally a 15th the time.
