I mentioned this in another post but I'll state it again in a slightly different way.
The biggest issue is that if LFG is going to be forced, then there needs to be a user friendly way to do it within the game. And it needs to be as interactive as possible.
My suggestion? Add a new vendor to the tower and the reef in one of the currently empty lounge esq spaces. When you select them, instead of weapons and armor, you get a list of activities and basic requirements (level, class, etc.). The game then uses matchmaking to find you team mates that fit.
When they are found you all go to orbit and are connected as a fire team. Then you can go on your merry way to whatever activity you were going to do before. When the activity is over, since your already in a fireteam you stay connected and can move together to other activities (unless of course you choose to drop out).
Also, here is a compromise. Even though I think everything should have optional matchmaking, I can understand ToO as an exception. And while i don't like the Raids as an exception, if they are going to be six is still a lot to come up with. So How bout you drop the requirement down to you only needing a team of three, but then offer to matchmake your team with other teams of three to meet the 6 guardian requirement for raids.

You would think that with so many people wanting optional matchmaking, that would be something they would really want to implement if this is truly a 10yr franchise. How many people are really going to want to buy any more of their dlc and such if a lot of people are locked out of so much content?

Its honestly one of the reasons i haven't got the House of Wolves just yet. I would love to go through ToO and was on board with Destiny getting a horde mode as an alternate to the raids (although I think there should be rooms with mixed enemy types). I also am itching to get into the Raids as well, since i have never played one. However, I have limited play time and only 2 friends with Ps4's that both hate shooters. And simply refuse to go using LFG boards to do it. No matter what others might suggested having people on your friends list is not the same thing as having friends. And if i'm going to play with randoms, which I am fine with, I'm not putting that kind of effort in to do it. Just my personal opinion, wrong or right.

I'm more than willing to help with pretty much anything. I'm looking for more people to play with that play for fun. My friends and I are all mature gamers that are just looking to have fun. Regardless of what weapons you have, I welcome you to play with us. Again, I pretty much will help you with any game mode. Add mustafarkilla.
