What is love?
Is it attraction of looks?
Is it attraction of personality?
Is it to like?
Is it to be close?

No no no people. You guys have it all wrong, no offense. Love is FAR deeper in its meaning than what most people understand it to be and it's not really anyone's fault either, as the concept of love is one which philosophers have avoided for the most part, throughout history, until very recently by philosopher Jean-Luc Marion in his book, The Erotic Phenomenon. Essentially, we must utilize a phenomenological bracketing, a suspension of the natural attitude (concerning love of course), and think about the phenomenon itself. Basically, to love, is to love without reason for doing so and without any predictions or calculations (on your part), regarding what you may get out of the relationship. Love can not occur through reciprocity, it can not be like a typical economic exchange (ex. I love so and so because they can do... for me) One must be able to essentially take a chance at possibly being hurt by a failed relationship, and go with the flow and watch to see how the relationship unfolds. One is to try to love "as if" they are loving first. It is impossible to know whether or not you or your partner loved the other first, so you must love them "as if" you are loving them first (before they love you) By the way, love is not entirely sexual of course, nor is it complete without it. It's also important to note that I am oversimplifying Marion's philosophical project very much, but this is a forum and I don't want to overwhelm anyone, but if you are interested and want to hear more, let me know! Cheers, hope I have shed some light on the topic.
