This is just another "no child left behind" scenario.
If you can't get a B in the class, let's make the whole class easier for you. You should earn your spot on mercury. Not be carried through it.
It's like getting a scholarship you don't deserve or a raise for sucking your boss's thang

...okay everyone, I counted 4 shitty analogies. In 5 total sentences. That's a pretty damn solid ratio there, is this the winner?
-
You compared a scholarship to an emblem in a video game......just wow.
-
Lol "just wow" he says in attempt to discredit my perfect analogy to why people think this is ok. The principle is the same. Thousands of companies in the world go under because they want to be nice and hold relatives hands when they're atrocious workers. instead of firing them, they want to hold their hands and make sure they're loved, all the while pissing money away because they're lazy and unproductive. If you aren't good enough to get a raise, too bad. Work at it. Learn your craft! You want to get the lighthouse so bad? Work at it and play more crucible. Get good friends to help you play better. No? Ok just take the shortcut and pay the "smart kid in class" to get you here. Point is: this thought process has perverted the new generation. Why are they so lazy? Because they get their hands held all through life and get ribbons for sucking at things. When what they need to do is teach them to be competent and productive. If everyone was working to be better rather than see how little effort they can put in with the most reward, I bet humans would be on Mars already. Carrying people to the lighthouse is saying to the world "you don't need to be good at crucible (the whole point of the lighthouses existence is for good crucible players) all you need to do is cheese it with better people doing it for you." So you don't need to work or learn. Or accept the fact you aren't good enough for this particular activity. You can believe you deserve something when, if fact, you don't. As you can tell, this is a very passionate about this subject because it's a deeper problem than just a video game. It's socialism. Albeit, very very mild socialism, but it's still some "everyone deserves a ribbon, even the fat lazy people who didn't finish" mentality bringing humanity down.

I wasn't trying to discredit you my man, and I understand what you are saying. I truly do, I have views like yours, albeit a bit modified, but same concept. However, comparing scholarships and virtual video game emblems just doesn't illustrate the concept realistically. You are talking about something tangible, that matters in society....and comparing it to something, that has no impact on actual society and does not effect your game play at all. You have the same virtual opportunity. Although it is an analogy in the way you are using it to get your point across, it's a poor analogy. The direct correlation between the 2 is so extreme it's hard not to chuckle. I mean that in a totally honest, non-disrespectful way. That's what my "just wow" was about...the fact you compared a scholarship literally to a video game emblem. It's not that serious.

I see you're good at writing essays. Wanna write mine for this scholarship I'm trying to get? LOL
-
I see what you did there

Lmaooooo sorry I just had to

Edited by Kidgunsmoke: 5/29/2015 6:57:52 PMthis is like the that smart kid in class who cant stand peers having a grade just like theirs, or an employee who does not want there coworker to get a raise.

No. The smart kids in class that get the same grade as their peer because they cheated and didn't have to do the work to get better and just took the easy way.
