I currently have 5 hours in. And I read on the internet thatci should leave the hinterlands for now and explore other places, should I do that?

Just make sure you door of side missions before main story ones

I cleared as much possible in each area until thing became tough then moved on. If your playing on normal the games easy you shouldn't have to many problems
