I'll just leave this here. I like to compare the bible to people who claim to be psychics. They be as vague as possible and contradict themselves just to make people believe whatever they want to believe. The reason there are so many sects to Christianity is because of this. People just want to read it however they want and get whatever messages they want. If it were true, there would be one message and it would be clear that it was correct.
The funniest thing about Christianity are the people who think praying works. They pray and pray for random things, and when their prayers aren't answered, it's God works in mysterious ways. When their prayers are answered, it's a damn miracle and he loves me!!! It's bound to happen when you pray for stupid shit every day that happens to everyone on a daily base. And the funniest thing is you think God created this massive ass universe, with all these galaxies and stars and planets and everything in between. Then he proceeded to create earth and every bit of life on it for billions of year. Then he creates humans, billions of them over tens of thousands of years. And you think he gives a damn about whether your football team wins a game, or if you have some money to buy food, or you finding a job. He created everything beyond your comprehension and he gives two shits about you individually?
This is assuming you don't believe that we have only been around for 6000 years and we appeared out of thin air. Which is probably a bad assumption, but if you are really that stupid then this whole paragraph was a waste of time anyway because you will dismiss it without really thinking about how ludicrous it sounds.

I have had many prayers that have been answered

You also have to look at is the government helping it's own people? God can use many different ways to help you, it's like you're going say hey God I need food I'm hungry and it magically appears in front of you
-
Name a few. I'm sure they are mundane things that happen to everyone. Probably mostly health related, and I'm sure the answer is modern medicine, not a damn miracle.
-
My marriage, my family, money to pay bills, my husband's job and many others
-
Oh man, you got me, you definitely wouldn't have any of that without praying. I wish I wasn't single, homeless and jobless. Guess I'll pray... Thanks for proving me right and you making yourself look stupid.
-
Ah thinks for the comment your so nice
-
You're*. Your next prayer should be for a couple more IQ points.
-
Thank you so much Grammer policeman, how much is the ticket?
-
You were one of the worst Christianity supporters I've made a fool of on these forums. The laughs as a result of that were quite sufficient. Go on with your ignorance and belief in what essentially boils down to magic, just because an old book written by men tells you to.
-
You never did answer my question. If you don't believe God exists, why are you so intent on diminishing us who do believe he exists?
-
Because it is equivalent to believing in imaginary friends. It's not healthy, has caused countless wars throughout history, and ruins critical thinking because you refuse to leave your box of ideas for fear of burning in hell.
Tl;dr your god is imaginary and I feel sorry for you.
-
You just said it's not healthy to believe in this God. Yet here you are diminishing other human beings for what they believe. Saying some stuff to people that you should not say. It's one thing to voice your opinion. It's another to persecute people. You could have said something to the wrong person, you could have effected them mentally. Damaged their mental health. Which, in turn, could result in physical health damage. You say it's not healthy to believe what we believe, and here you are shouting off nonsense that could harm someone mentally. So either you like to contradict yourself, or there's another reason why your persecuting. If you feel sorry for us, as you have claimed, then you wouldn't treat us like this.
-
That's sad actually. How small and uncomfortable that box must feel for you. You must be so afraid of that imaginary place called hell to deny critical thinking so strongly. I'll enjoy spreading my legs and running around with knowledge for the both of us.
-
I'm not afraid of hell. No fear of it at all.

Edited by Mater Happens: 5/29/2015 3:00:23 AMYou can believe what you want that is your choice and your free will, you can call me names and try to bring me down but it's not going to work I have been through worse and I have been called diffrent things, in the end I know who my creator is and I am not ashamed to proclaim Jesus christ is my lord and savior
-
The thing is, those cannot be proven to be acts of God and therefore must be listed as coincidences no matter how many you have.
-
By reading the comments some of you are not willing to believe you already have it set in your mind that no matter what your not going to believe so trying to convince you to believe is almost impossible, it's fine though, Jesus proved he was the son of God and yet people still did not believe him

My family went on a transatlantic cruise trip back when Iceland started spewing and messing up everyone's flights. Two problems: We disembarked in Barcelona and hoped to go to Poland to visit some relatives but no such flight from Barcelona to the city in Poland existed. Second problem: once we wanted to go back to America, we wouldn't be able to since the volcanoes shut down flights for weeks. What ended up happening was an obscure airline opened up nonstop flights from Barcelona to the city in Poland that started on the day we disembarked and the day that we booked our flights to return to America, all of the volcano stuff disappeared for that one day. My point is, those would be crazy to say that they're both coincidences and not acts of God but because you cannot provide any evidence that God influenced it you have to call them coincidences or "luck".

I agree with you on your point based toward prayers. I had a friend give up on her faith because she said God ignored her. HE grandma passed away and she prayed constantly for 3 days for him to bring her back. Obviously, she was not brought back from the dead so she gave up. This is unfair. You can't unfairly pray for things like that. God knows whats best. He will answer yours prayers with 1 of 3 responses; I will answer your prayer, I have something better in mind, or it's not time for that quite yet. But I do believe that if I live my life, work hard, and set the right example and live a life of faith and never worry about what's next (everything is in his hands) that he will take care of me and has an ultimate plan for me.
-
How can you believe he has a plan for you AND free will? One or the other....
-
I had this discussion in my English 10 class
-
He has a plan. He will place forks in our paths. Which way we choose is up to us, but he knows the outcome for both potential paths you could choose. And he has plans for each of those paths as well.
-
Your argument is invalid. We didn't appear out of thin air. We were made from "the dust of the ground."
-
And that sounds better to you than evolution?
