Fake Christians are very detrimental to Christianity as a whole.
I think many of them do it because they've heard about what hell is supposed to be like and think that going to church on Sundays reserves a ticket in heaven.

Fake Christians can cause newer Christians to be led astray or even give non-Christians a bad idea of what being a Christian is all about. SO yes, very detrimental.
