A$AP Rocky has always been known for his very New York, very "trill" style of rapping, and this album excellently covets this style along with treading deeper into Rocky's introspections on the fast-paced, women and drug, superstar life. The one thing I always liked about Rocky is that he implores a unique sort of lyricism that separates himself from others in the mainstream rap game. While I understand many people hold disdain towards rap as a whole, and often diminish it as an emotionless blur of bragging, which much of it is, but I feel like a unique style such as Rocky's should be at least tried out for size.
With this album, he's actually creating an emotional canvas at which he speaks on his drug use, and how his perceptions are diluted/enhanced by this. And before you trash the idea of communicating thoughts of drug use, remember that artists have been doing it time and time again, a great example being a large portion of classic rock and punk.
I think one of my favorite tracks has to be "Excuse Me" (14:35 in the video above). How do you feel about this album? If you dislike rap, just leave this thread be, or at least give the album a try. In the past, I've found most people who dislike rap are just too stubborn to give most of it a try and hold a certain disdain towards the genre from what they hear on the radio. Now, if you dislike rap, and give it a listen, I'm not saying you will like this album, I'm just saying its good to widen your horizons.
