One idea that I thought might be cool to increase competitive play was to introduce a Crucible mode where Clans would be pitted against one-another. This would be similar to ToO, where to begin a match you have to have a full fire-team, but with only members of your clan.
A level system could be used where similar level clans (Total Combat Rating or Win %), would be matched against one-another. Clans with allegiances could also join forces, so 3 from each in a fire team. I feel this could increase the functionality of clans, and would cause more people to join / create their own clan.
This could lead to leader boards where the best clan from each rating bracket got special/exclusive emblems. This would mean that you don't have to be the best of the best to get a reward, and would appeal to players who can't get to the lighthouse, as they can't compete against elite players.
To an extent this could also be forwarded to Factions, where every time you wear a faction piece, your score goes towards a total sum, and at the end of the event, players who put scores towards each faction get a reward if they win. To curb people putting an item on the faction that wins at the very end, it could be done so that you have one section per event. Multipliers could be used so that it doesn't matter how many players are in each faction.
