In Halo CE on the level "Pilar of Autumn" there is a computer system that reads "john 117" and is lit up in a green light. Right next to that it says "Linda 058" and is displayed in red. Was Linda supposed to be on the PoA? Sorry I haven't really read the books all that much

Yup. She, James-006, and John-117 went to enact the Cole Protocol on board Gamma Station. On the way there, James was rendered MIA. After completing the mission, Linda was hit in the back with an overcharged plasma pistol, causing her vitals to flatline. Hoping that she could be revived at a later time, John froze her in cryo sleep. When the Pillar of Autumn went to crash land on Halo, all remaining cryopods were jettisoned for later retrieval. An automatic precaution. When Chief and Cortana destroyed Halo, they later found Linda's cryopod among the massive debris field. Eventually, they would extract Dr. Halsey, and with her help, Linda was able to be revived.

I think in one of the books, after Halo CE, chief finds a cryo pod, from the POA. It turns out to be Linda, and they manage to save her, because she was placed in cryo right after being seriously injured during the fall of reach.

Very cool. That would have been totally neat if she wasn't injured and Linda was your pal in Halo CE

I don't think it was anywhere in the original though.
