Hello everyone,
So I've seen a lot of complaining about The Lighthouse being only available exclusively to the "Top 10%" of the player base.
Here are some helpful tips for those that don't fall into that category.
1. You want to buy all buffs from the ToO merchant. This will allow you to go 7-1 but still come out 9-0 allowing access to the lighthouse.
2. If you lose more than 1 match with a buff and actually get a loss on your passage record then simply discard it. You can buy a fresh passage with a clean slate for 100 glimmer. If any buffs have been used you may need to buy buffs again.
3. If you have a warlock that self resurrection can save a match. 1 hit melee kills upon resurrection and a shotty in hand can wipe out 3 people easily if near by or you can revive your teammates if not.
4. I recommend not going into ToO arena unless at least level 33.
5. This one may sound harsh but for the people that are not good at PvP and know it you will want to wait until all the people who are have gone through ToO on all characters and do your runs the day before it ends if at all possible. This will most likely (not a guarantee) allow you to go up against people with your same skill level. Remember that not all PvP pros will always be running ToO arena.
6. If your running with a group of LFG people don't expect to come out flawless all the time because they are random people you have joined with and you will not have chemistry off the start. You may want to run some practice rounds in another game type with LFG people before heading straight into ToO arena.
If anyone else has any additional tips for the less fortunate people post them below. Hopefully this helps some people out there.
Lastly - solely my opinion and what I've seen/heard. Not a tip.
ToO is the only true "earn" your gear/items in my opinion this game currently has. I don't for see bungie's making it available to everyone and the people complaining about them paying for it as far as i have seen bungie never promised The Lighthouse being available so no one expected this and therefore no false advertising was given.
Fellow guardian Tips pulled from below:
- change your tactic if you are losing back to back. If it doesn't work the 3rd time you try it it's probably not going to change.
- be tactical, create distractions. You don't always need the kill! Don't be greedy. You want the win. Individual show boating is not needed.
- communicate! Call outs are important. Stick together and don't go running off solo. Rush enemy heavy. Don't let them get the heavy and make it a lock on battle. If they have gallys or truths and you're team is working with hunger of Crota you lose that round pretty much guaranteed.
- revive at all costs. If you see you're the last guardian standing all of a sudden and you can make a revive do it. Don't run away and give the opposing team the advantage to camp the orbs to revive your fallen teammates.

Edited by Bicepus Maximus: 5/28/2015 6:44:15 PMI disagree about waiting until the last day. We went in with my Hunter on Monday (last day) and every team was all level 34 with Thorn, Vex, tlw and at least two exotic shaders so most if not all had previously gone flawless. It was like this for every damn game. Ended up going 6 -0 but then lost two. Got 8 wins but it was annoying. I suck at pvp so was very annoying. Granted one of the guys in my group had gone flawless. I did on another character but the point is every team had good players. No easy teams. I am terrible at pvp. It felt easier on Friday with more manageable teams.

There is no skill based matching. Luck odd the draw could put a mediocre team against randoms. If it were a round Robin or some other sort of bracket type system that would ensure each successive match pitted you against a team on a similar win steak, then I would agree it is skill based. Oh, and your suggestion to wait until the end doesn't account for all the people that run it multiple times just to ruin someone else's card and keep them from the lighthouse. I couldn't care less about the lighthouse. I just want to know why elemental primaries are a reward. Elemental damage doesn't do squat in pvp.

Sweet, thanks for this!

Edited by Nguyner: 5/28/2015 3:37:45 AMRemember key point call outs for the current map this will enable you and your team mates to locate the enemies with ease.

Good man. Good post.
-
Play conservative. Wolf pack or if you have someone who can hold their own, 2 people push their 3 and have the one guy get behind them. My team did not run exotic hand cannons and we went flawless with a MIDA a Strange Suspect and a vex (he played while eating crayons)
-
Talk allot, im not good at pve but communication got me there twice, and for god sakes stay together.

Edited by AHairyOctopus: 5/28/2015 8:39:36 PMI should have listened to you. Last week, I got one loss, but continued on my passage and won all nine in a row. I'm an average player Id say, and I didn't think about buying a new passage. Good advice man, and nice warlock MASTER RACE plug.
-
Communication is the only way to win. Also if you are in the lacking of skill department, just camp with thorn
-
Not the usual forums ToO post or bs satire wanna be.
-
Step 1. Last word Step 2. ? Step 3. Profit
-
Now it seems everyone found out how good the warlocks are -.-. But thanks, it seems i am one of the 10% top players ahahaha... Trials not that hard, 2 average players (like me) and one very good player and 9-0 goes fast... Done it twice in 3 attempts Last night failed 2 times at 8-0 :/... It is know at 5-0 waiting for next weekend

1) Have a team with only 34's and Thorns = Win
-
I played and my teammates and I came up against a team whose lowest level was a 28 and highest was a 30, now we thought this was strange but as we started they all changed to. 33+ and let me tell you it was a surprise. In the end we utterly crushed them. So what is the point in changing your level?
-
#4 isn't really true. I finished an entire flawless as a level 31 with a 2.0KD. It says advantages are enabled, but it really did not seem like I was at a disadvantage.
-
One word:
communicate!!!!
-
The last point especially. Being a good distraction and having great communication skills will lighten the load massively.

Here is some good advice: http://youtu.be/Vc8HlqBwdsg

Here's a great piece of advice Don't buy mercy of Osiris first If you lose the first game you can simply wipe instead of losing your only chance to lose, so buy it after your first win!
-
#1 helpful tip is that you hope that you don't cross any cheaters/hackers to hand oh a false loose
-
nice tips. I wouldnt buy any buffs before being 5-0. I dont get the complaining at all as everybody can play the ToO. No normal game gives out the rewards without completing certain objectives.
-
LVl 33 titan with 33 warlock already doing PoE 32, need one.. wanna join? send a msg on xbox360 full=full GT : ik was dat niet
-
dont buy buffs until after maybe 5-6 wins to ensure a safe flawless run :)

If your going to run Sun singer go duel grenades. Either use light beyond nemesis for the rapid revives, Or star fire protocol (for obvious reasons). If your gonna go titan armamentarium is a good choice. Most of my kills came from lightning grenades because there is sooo much wall and ceiling geometry to stick those babies too

2 simple steps for the Trials 1. Don't suck 2. Get Gud
