I think that is because these guns don't shoot bullets. I think they shoot energy. The ammo packs we pick up are see through. And none of the guns magazines line up to anything. So that's why I think we shoot energy projectiles.

You're probably right. But then why bother designing ones that DO pass as properly aligned weapons (like Hawkmoon), and not the others?
