I have never understood why this is such a coveted perk in the eyes of so many Destiny players.
Doesn't matter which weapon class; Shotgun, Handcannon, Scout rifle, if your weapon has this perk, you're going to make a forum post about how sick your roll is.
I honestly don't understand it, let's say you have a magazine of.. Let's say an average of 6 between handcannons and Shotguns.
One random bullet will do 33% more damage. This is simply an unreliable damage source, if you actually hit your lucky shot before needing to reload. Even hitting this shot usually won't turn the tide of the gunfight; if you're banking on that extra 33% damage on your shotgun to kill and it doesn't proc, then you're dead.
Scout rifles and any weapon with more than 9 bullets in the mag makes this perk pretty much entirely useless, 10% chance to do more damage ONCE? How do people think this perk even comes close to Feeding Frenzy (Effectively sleight of hand) or Outlaw (Sleight of hand on steroids for headshot pros).
TLDR; Waiting for the lucky shot makes you refrain from smart reloads, it is unreliable damage, and in my eyes; a waste of a perk.
Edit 1: Hawkmoon: 3 x Lucky Shot
Luck in the Chamber: 1 x Lucky Shot.
If your only response is how a weapon with this 3 x this perk is good, then you are simply validating my point.

Idk, I mean I loved having random three shot kills in crucible.
-
Guns with LITC. Treat them like normal guns. The lucky bullet is a nice bonus and lands you a two hit kill on occasions.
-
I'm not a fan either. I don't like the randomness of it. I much prefer Crowd Control for a bonus damage perk.
-
My Judgement VI has shot package, smallbore, and LitC. The small bore reduces the mag to 3. So I have a 1 in 3 chance of it activating. Other that that, there's really no reason to have it.
-
My Ill Will, Final Round and Luck In The Chamber with a 5 round mag. I am often two shotting everyone.
-
L.I.T.Chamber+Zen Moment+combust=rekt
-
It's only good on shotguns with 4 or less in the mag.
-
I have luck in the chamber and final round on my I'll will with a 7 mag. Two 2 hit KOs per mag is pretty nice bro.
-
Considering I nearly always reload my gun after a kill (so that I don't end up reloading right in front of the next enemy coming my way), nor do I pay any attention to previously fired bullets for extra damage (and thus not knowing if lucky bullet was fired already or not), I'm gonna agree with you. I'm even gonna add something, and it's that I couldn't give less of a crap about that lucky bullet
-
here's why we were up against someone who had Judgement 6 with this roll: shot package, luck in chamber, an I think small bore? doesn't sound like much, but here's what the last perk did: it decreases clip size by 1, so from stock 4 shots to 3, it increases range AND stability I believe so this guy now has a clip size 3 in a shotgun that now has insane range, and now he has a HUGE chance for luck in chamber because the mag size is 3 if he didn't have luck in chamber and only had Final Round the shotgun would still be a beast that's why guaranteed 1-shot kills my Fellwinter's with Luck Shot Package and Hammerforged doesn't always kill
-
Still better than Final Round on shotguns, since you can't really waste bullets to get Final Round since the special nerf. The bonus damage can really save you when you're trying to shotgun an Arc Blade.
-
Got her mercy with final round, luck in the chamber and smallbore. Can you spell beast?
-
My Hawkmoon would have to respectfully disagree
-
Hawkmoon love it
-
My Hawkmoon would like a word with you.
-
Idk, id be happy with this perk on my ghorn
-
Personally the only time I see it's utility is a Sniper or a HandCannon like Ill Will (coupled with LitC/Smallbore...reduces mag to 5). It's nasty.
-
Disagree that lucky bullet has saved me so many times.
-
Ill will with final round and luck in the chamber. If I remember right it holds 7 rounds and has a perk increase stability and reduce magazine size. 5-6 rounds with luck in the chamber and final round is like a mini hawkmoon
-
Have a 25% chance to one shot a blade dancer with my shotgun. Or a 75% chance to shoot and melee him most likely dying myself.
-
I have it on a handcannon with a 4 shot magazine so for me it's a 50% chance of a 2 shot kill
-
Works great on my Hawkmoon 😎
-
That's what makes Hawkmoon so good tho *covers Hawkmoon's barrel*
-
Agreed. I prefer my perks to have a guaranteed load out and not by chance/luck.
-
Dude in weapons like judgment VI that only come with four shots, luck in the chamber is an amazing perk because you have a 25 percent chance of hitting that which is pretty consistent with a shotgun
-
Final round plus LITC plus something that decreases mag size and increases something else. Lots of 2 shots in PVP.
