HUD = Heads Up Display = Helmet
That's why in Halo you know how much ammo you have left, the gun you have equipped, and the radar and such. It's different than Destiny where you actually look down the scope.
And I was mostly talking about the human guns. It even says that humans don't know how a needler operates. You just pull the the trigger and go.
