Even in a fictional/alternate universe, the rules within that universe need to be self-consistent to maintain the suspension of disbelief, so unless all the weapon animations/mechanism action is strictly for show (I.e. in the future the guns just have retro style design for purely cosmetic/nostalgia purposes), something doesn't quite add up.
