Here's the thing, I've seen comments where people say that they are practically pro at this game, and then they follow up by saying the character that they main with and I think to myself: 'Almost nobody does well with that character at all...' So maybe it's possible to be a legend with Bowser, or Mewtwo, or Pichu, but at the pro level I sincerely doubt most people can pull that off. So basically, I'm wondering how many of you know how far melee can actually be taken? Have you ever watched M2K, Armada, Mango, Hax, etc. (just to name some of the pros) play the game? Do you know the advanced techniques? What some people can do with this game is amazing!
The point of this isn't to talk people down, I'm just curious how many people know about the real competitive side of smash. If you really like the game, but you don't know about the really high level of play, you're missing out.
Also, I'll straight up admit that I'm not a good competitive player. On a casual level I'm good, but I have a lot of refining to do.

The year is 20XX. Everyone plays Fox at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The RPS metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.

I'm okay, I'm trying to practice more and more. I'm getting the hang of wavedashing
-
Kirby + Suicide strats = Undefeatable
-
Idk. I'm probably bad compared to many. But I'm not terrible. Maybe somewhere in the middle.

I play with Down-B, er uh I mean... Pikachu! I love that little fat-ass. That little bastard had no range, but if I got up close, I could take someone from 0% to 120% in about 15 seconds.
My friends quit playing with me after about 2 months of owning the game.
Under-average

From what i have heard isnt fox suppose to be the best character in melee. I never got into the whole competitive scene (playing of watching).
-
I main dk. I'm learning L-canceling and wavedashing right now, but I have a lot of work ahead of me.
-
I play melee still and i go beast with ganon

Considering I may not even be the best in the group of guys that I play with... not that good. I'm a Yoshi player and I win some games but it's like you say, I'd no sooner confuse myself with a pro in SSB than in Halo. I think the fact that most guys just play with a few dozen people throughout their SSB careers at most may confuse them about what it's like to be truly great at the game. At least Halo disabuses you of the idea you're awesome by running into guys who thrash you on XBL.

I thought I was the shit at that game until my Korean roommate (who had never played the game before) picked Kirby and proceeded punt my ass off the screen like a blessed football!! I could not touch him!! I have been emotionally scared by the event. Have not picked it up since and that was 6 years ago.

I am not a pro but my cousins are good af and I love playing with them and hearing what they have to teach me. Main Sheik then Marth
-
Meh/10 I'm even worse at Brawl.
-
Master level. PP's Marth is like a kid playing with his weewee compared to mine.

I thought I was good until I went to this bar in Cleveland that hosts professional tourneys. I was able to get in this tournament only because a guy didn't show and I knew the owner of the bar. I typically use falco for serious games. I went 1-2 at this thing. The fact that I won against was amazing. It was the tensest moment of my life. I got my ass kicked by this legend who uses Ganondorf...

I am OK but by no means as good as these dudes on twitch that play fox and do all the crazy dodging and crap. I play Mario/Luigi/marth/Peach/Kirby I think Peach/Luigi are my best characters

I know about it man, when the new one came out on 3ds I wouldn't play with my buddy because he always whoops ass, and he sucks compared to his other friends. The actually have some club at the college dedicated to competitive SSB, they played a certain one, don't remember the name but it was melee style with brawl graphics. It was like a mod. Kinda outrageous really. I much prefer some raids/PoE in Destiny or Witcher 3 any day.

Shameless bump for good measure
