Can i just buy the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and be alright story wise. Or does it continue off of the first 2 games, so i should buy and play those first?

Not at all! If you have the extra coin; you can get the big strategy with the history/lore book or wiki for free
-
If you're one of those OCD types, probably. Otherwise no.

No, I have read the books and they even mention tiny details, that weren't in the games.

CDPR designed the game for people so they could jump in and play rather than having to touch the first two games on completely separate platforms first. I mean playing the first two helps, but CDPR gives enough back story and narrative that it makes sense regardless

3 does a good job of recapping events of past, you don't feel lost story wise

No need for the games really. You might be slow to catch up in some of the characters. But I encourage you to read the books.

No you can read the glossary or go to kotaku.com and find a primer or mini guide that covers/sums up the previous games (just search the witcher, not able to copy links from phone, sorry).

Not really. Major plot lines get filled in along the way, it's pretty easy to catch up on what's going on and who is who. The character guide fills in on people Geralt meets and what part they play in things.

I haven't played the first two and it's been fine for me.
