It was useful for Crota and the vault because of how difficult it was to get a complete set of armor. Now you just need rep and marks. Since none of that is transferable, it makes sense to just focus on one at a time. Plus you need weapons. Strikes, public events, nightfalls, raids, then prison. You got it man!
