I've seen numerous threads of people complaining about how hard the boss is during the Level 32 "Broken Legion" Arena. (The one with the Cabal Boss with shields of changing elements)
So the entire run in all took about 30-45 minutes to complete. I'm not going to go over strategies for the first rounds because all it is is killing enemies while occasionally dismantling some mines.
Here was our setup for the big man himself:
Me: Level 33 Hunter Gunslinger
Vex Mythoclast (365)
Black Hammer (312 I think, only perks I had were White Nail and Snapshot)
Hunger of Crota (331)
Achlyophage Symbiote (Light 42)
Dogged Cage (Light 36)
Chest of the Exile (Light 42)
Boots of the Exile (Light 42)
2nd Person: Level 33 Sunsinger Warlock (Self Rez)
Only gun I know he was using was Song of Ir Yut, for when the boss had Arc Shields
3rd Person: Level 32 Defender Titan (Weapons of Light)
I know he was using his Void Give/Take Equation for Void Shields and Hunger of Crota, Don't know what else.
Our main area for doing damage was the door where you first come in. It has a decent amount of cover with some escape routes, which I'll get to in a minute.
His Shield Pattern was very lucky for us, all in all. He re calibrated his shield I think about 7-8 Times, Giving us Arc once and Void once. The rest was all Solar, which is IMO the easiest element to take down.
Our strategy was just to stay in that main area for the majority of the fight. Problem with that is, the number of ads, but to mention majors, is very high and they are very aggressive. So when either someone died or the number of enemies became overwhelming, we ran.
If something like this happens to you, running away from the fight is the best tactic. Your fireteam (or what is left of your fireteam) needs to do a full 360 around the entire arena to regroup and regen. Once you get back to the door you originally come in, 30 seconds should have passed so you can revive your dead teammate(s). Once that happens, you can wait for the boss to come to you. Do not, under any circumstance, hunt him out. He will catch you out of cover and destroy you all.
Once the boss is right in front of you in the main spawn, take down his shield and give him all you have. Once he re calibrates, you can try to pull a second take down. Only do this if your confident about it and only do this if your whole team is alive, to maximize damage output. If you finish takedown #1 and someone dies or the enemies get overwhelming, just do another 360 around the map and revive. Rinse and repeat.
And no, this does NOT require any Gjallarhorn! It would be easier, but it's still fine without it. If you have one, more power to you.
If you don't, more power to you. It simply does not matter.
I hope some people found this helpful. Good luck out there!
