Let me start off by saying that overall I really enjoy this game. It's fun to play, it's visually beautiful, and I keep wanting to come back and play more. BUT, the endgame activities can be very frustrating due to one simple decision by the devs. No matchmaking for the higher level, potentially more fun, aspects of game, where all the best gear drops.
Having to track down a team of people on you "friends" list, who may or may not be online at the same time, or trying to find randoms in a forum, takes a lot of the fun out of it. On top of that, not everyone has, or even wants, a big list of friends to begin with, and compiling a big list of randoms from the forums amounts to the same thing as matchmaking anyway, except we have to do the work ourselves, which is crap in my opinion. Not many of my real life friends are gamers, and I don't want a big list of strangers on my account who can message me.
I think it is great to be able to create your own private fireteams and play with friends, but I don't feel like we should be forced to do that to even ACCESS parts of the game. The matchmaking system is all set up and ready to go, so why not offer it for the rest of the game, so everyone can enjoy the full game that we are paying so much money for. I just paid for an expansion, but I can't even play a lot of right now.
I can appreciate what the devs are trying to do with the social media aspect of things, and I think it is a cool thing to have the option to do, but not to detriment of the gameplay itself, which should be the more important part. It's like we're being forced to link up with our facebook and twitter accounts to play a raid. Right now I just want to play a raid. If I want to chat with my friends, I'll go log on to facebook and not on my Playstation. I'm on my Playstation because I want to play, not network.
p.s. After browsing thru the forums, this seems like popular and reasonable request Bungie.

Ok. So what happens when you matchmake into a Raid? What happens when someone leaves? What happens when you leave because of how long a Raid takes to begin with? How do you expect to pick back up where you left off with matchmaking? Let the matchmaking choose people on the same part? What are the chances you find someone in the same exact spot as the player base decreases as time goes on? Matchmaking for Raids doesn't exist because it wouldn't work. You people seriously know how to complain. Go find friends in real life to play with. It's like someone whining about how their iPhone doesn't drive their car for them. It's disgusting how utterly dramatic and simple minded some of you people are on these forums, especially with the mob mentalities that follow the onset of these ridiculous complaints.

It's just difficult to get into a higher level Poe because there's only two spots open and for the 35 most people ask for ghally because they want to either rush through it or some other reason

bump What have we solved DeeJ ?? We want optional matchmaking into the game not in the wishes list !!!

Finding forum people gives me randoms. Matchmaking gives me randoms. Both methods give me the same result ... RANDOMS! Forums just take world's longer. Optional matchmaking is a must. Just like there are manual toggles for normal vs hard mode, there should be a manual toggle to turn matchmaking on if one wants to.

At current, our philosophy about endgame content is that part of the challenge includes forming up a team. This is a strong community filled with players who are looking for teammates. Why not seek each other out here and band together?

Think about it! During you going on a site to look for teammates, what is your guardian doing? He/she is either in orbit, the tower,or suiting in the mission waiting for someone else to join. That's TIME. Whether it takes five min or and hour of your guy waiting that accumulates myriads upon myriads of hours clocked in playing time by Bunjie by our times looking for players sitting around. Hours that they using to try to brag and boast about how long people play their game!fake hours to be exact.think about how much your time spent in this game would be "cut" if there were matchmaking in this game instead of wasting time again, wether a couple min or an hour. So no,they won't put in matchmaking in because it's all numbers and I bet 100% that there is MILLIONS of hours people were in orbit waiting to find people. Straight up its just cheap numbers BUNGIE uses to manipulate the gaming world into thinking people are spending hours just playing the game. There are other things in this game that waste time, but I think that's the main one. Sorry guardians but for them to put in matchmaking on all levels? It'd take away a majority of time logged in for this cynical game. Spread this around so we all know the true reason why we have to open up a whole other website just to find people for a "social" game...
