TLDR summary: Change upgrade materials to an account wide list of items that don't take inventory space.
The vast majority of complaints and requests are for larger inventory/vault space or are in some way related to this issue.
I would go so far to say that you can keep increasing vault space but it would always be a problem, not to mention it's not really needed in many cases - you really don't need every weapon under the sun.
However, you do need upgrade materials. You do need ammo synth and other bits and pieces for which there aren't alternatives to (aside from buying them, and even then you can't do that for everything).
Thus I am proposing a change to upgrade materials, telemetries, currency items (including coins and items that convert to glimmer). Anything which is a pure hinderance and doesn't affect the combat game play/tactics. Weapons should be kept limited due to the whole memory restriction and slight tactical element, same with ammo synths (but they need to allow deletion).
But having to run back and forth from the vault to the speaker to vault to the gunsmith to the vault to the etc.. is pointless and doesn't add anything but takes time.
Thus I say that all materials of that ilk that can be traded between characters should be account wide and in a non-inventory-taking list of items similar to glimmer.
This would remove the need to making stacks larger, remove all of this taking up inventory space leaving it for the more important random fun things. Remove having to juggle items across characters and wondering on which character you left your exotic shards.
Aside from a UI change, I can't think of any negative reason why it shouldn't be implemented in future.
