Everyone geeks out on something. Some of us geek out on firearms. I know guys who have whole libraries devoted to reference books about proof marks and serials. Give my uncle any World War two weapon and he can look at the proof and tell you its history. I'll clue you in though because I don't mind admitting it, I think most of us are more into the idea of guns than the reality. I doubt anyone here wants to shoot anyone. Nor do we particularly feel that a weapon makes us more "manly" or cool. Honestly we're just geeks. Our geek thing happens to be designed to kill.

  • Thank you, seriously. I'm more interested in the engineering and every manufacturer has their own way of making their product unique. Every time I gain a new addition, the first thing on the list is to strip it completely down to the last screw and understand how it operates. That's very fun for me.

  • Yeah it's nothing. I don't even blame people for that anymore. I mean I'm sure every sub culture has it's nuttier elements. Ours just happens to make the news...a lot. That is one reason I conceal carry now. I believe in open carry in principle but, the reality of things is that it makes people uncomfortable in the wake of highly publicized mass shootings. Then those guys went and carried friggin rifles into Chipotle. I mean I'm all for the second and the first but, you have to exercise those responsibly and that many untrained people in am uncontrolled situation around a live firearm was never a good judgment call and making people afraid of you is not the normal way we voice our beliefs in civilized society. It was just counter productive. That's neither here nor there though. My point is don't judge the guy too harshly.
