While I have been enjoying fighting the packs of Wolves I can't help but remember the Blades of Crota. Both are patrol events that have bounties and tied to an expansion. Are the wolves going the way of the blades come comet? Originally the blades could be found in patrol and on the first TDB story mission, however the first story mission could only be done once per character. Of course they patched that since players wanted to replay that mission. If they hadn't patched it, those bounties would be useless. These new events are connected to bounties for HoW. Are they going to be a permanent thing with the expansion, a periodic weekly event (packs only spawn the week of the events), a temporary thing until comet, or just something to lead up to HoW then gone?
