I didn't meet my wife on halo but apart from that you summed up how I feel.
I made so many friends on gears and halo. Eventually party chat killed the social aspect in alot of games.
But WHY would bungie implement such a great ingame voice audio if we NEVER get to use it.
SOCIAL Space.
I'm afraid we're just not dealing with the same great bungie we knew years ago.

Where Bungie -blam!-ed up party chat with Halo is twofold 1) Unlike Perfect Dark and Gears where one person hosted the match and randoms joined and stayed as long as they wanted (or were booted if obnoxious), Halo was just an endless series of one-off matches and then on to the next randoms. That's essentially the same as Destiny, the difference was chat was default in Halo. 2) The problem with the default chat was that they allowed communication before and after matches between opposing teams. This led to most of the hate talk, name calling, etc because they didn't care since it would be a new group the next match anyway. Where PD and Gears cultivated the social aspect, Bungie cultivated the hate mongers. If you encourage people to communicate and give them reason to talk and work together, more often than not they will.

Agreed in my opinion they just need to add Proximity Chat in Social Spaces. Default Off In a menu there should be something similar that alot of games have with Preferred Match Types -Prefer Good Connection -My Language -Any (For example) So for voice chat in the tower let's say Chat Options - Default Off (Fireteam only) - Pro (serious players/seeking raid) - Adult - Open (possible mature/Underground)
