Deep in the Tower, a loud, boisterous voice can be heard:
"So there I was" exclaimed the Hunter as he swung around on his bar stool, spilling his drink on the other patrons, "--there I was, backed into a corner in a room full of Hive. My partner and I got seperated; she went high and I went low. I'm close to drowning in Thrall, 10 Knights were trying to cleave me into bite-sized pieces, and the Wizards--"
"Ten?" chimed his Ghost, "I thought there were only five."
"Five, ten, whatever. Too many to deal with quickly. And how the hell would you know? You were too busy with that blasted door and setting off every alarm on the damn Moon."
"Well, I was kind of rushed, seeing as the odds were quickly stacking against you."
The Hunter took a long swig from his drink. "Yeah, I guess that's one way to put it. Anyway, I used my Arc Blade and took out a few Acolytes but managed to get it stuck in a Knight Major's chest plate. I pushed off quickly and managed to swing this baby around." The Hunter pulls the rust-speckled shotgun off his back and places it in his lap. The other Guardians at the bar are understandably wary of the barrel. "I popped him once between the eyes and staggered him. The next shot put him down good. But then I took note of other nine Knights...or four," glancing at his Ghost, "depending on your perception of events. I took aim at another and dropped him at 40 meters. Then I tried to reload before the Thrall swarmed me and--"
One Warlock who hadn't paid much attention to that point suddenly looked up, "40 meters? With a shotgun?!"
"I know, awesome right?" said the Hunter as a smile creased his lips. "I know she don't look like much on the outside, but this beast can really reach out and touch you. Each shell has a smart-grouping system that's programmed before firing, based on range. You can switch between room-clearing to head-popping just by aiming down the sights."
Realizing he had the bar's full attention now, the Hunter decided to launch into the finale: "So there I was in room full of pissed off Hive; Acolytes by the dozen, scores of Thrall, and three or eight Knights. I used up almost all of my ammo and was down to just a few shots with my junker here. Just when I thought it was over, just when I thought I'd be remembered only for my heroics and not my dashing looks, in comes this beautiful bastard!" He nudges the sleeping Titan next to him, who is out cold face-down on the bar after hearing the story one too many times. "She slammed down like an angry meteor, vaporizing the nearest Hive and splattering the rest against the wall. And not a second later does Mr. Lockpick over here get the door open."
"I figured it would be more cinematic," quipped the Ghost.
"Sure. So we get through the damn door, and what do we find? A bunch of Fallen looting the place, of course! Apparently the Hive were only trying to get past us to stop the Fallen from...scavenging bones I guess? We didn't stop to ask. Ms. Meteor over here went right to bashing Dreg skulls to powder while I put down a few Vandals. A Captain was standing in the back with a smug look on his maw and all four arms crossed, surrounded by snipers. I guess he thought he was out of range." The Hunter turned his glass up, finishing the drink. "But we all make mistakes..."
